Job Summary

Provide direct support to clients as directed, deemed or appropriate at the request and/or direction of supervisory staff and Job Developer/Case Managers. Direct support includes applications, resumes, interpretation and translation of documents and transportation services relating to clients, program and agency.

Role and Responsibilities

Assist in the employment process for clients. Including employment applications, resumes and interviews.

Provide interpretation services, both within the agency/program and to outside the Agency partners, if applicable.

Provide translation services, both within the agency/program and to outside the agency partners, if applicable.

Provide transportation, as deemed necessary, from the airport (arrival), for DHS. Social Security, health appointments, employment services clothing, supportive services, etc.

Identify job upgrade possibilities when working with clients.

Case note all appropriate contacts and activities relating to job development

Maintain on-going communication with Employment Coordinator, Case Managers and other Program staff to ensure employer/client needs and requests are addressed.

Assist with maintaining relationships with local businesses to identify job placement opportunities through various means including, but not limited to:

Telephone calls

Interviews

Track contacts with employers on forms provided by DHS and on STVCC forms while working with clients employment processes.

Work with employers to develop onsite training opportunities and communicate those opportunities to case managers and Refugee Trainer, if applicable.

Work with businesses and agencies to remove employment barriers and resolve issues related to refugee integration in the workplace and independence of refugees, when applicable.

Assist employers with addressing issues related to job performance and provide assistance with improving performance by: Providing ongoing education to the employer regarding characteristics of the refugee and assist with strategizing appropriate steps to improve the refugees job performance.

Communicating with case managers regarding concerns, issues, etc. related to job performance in order to act as a liaison to meet the needs of both the employer and the refugee employee.

Monitor employment progress, including 90-day and 180-day retention follow up with employers, for refugees who secure employment.

Assist Case Managers in retrieving Paystubs when necessary.

Receive job claims and scan them to the local DHHS office.

Maintain a professional appearance and behavior as a representative of the Agency and Program.

Attend and actively participate in Agency and Program meetings, conferences, in-services and other meetings deemed appropriate.

Prepare record copies of job claims, if applicable.

Provide interpretation and translation for any department as needed.

Assist in gathering information for reports and grants, if applicable.

Complete and submit a time accounting document on a daily basis as determined by the director of Refugee Services.
