Our client, a high end construction and engineering design company focusing on innovative design, is seeking a Senior Corporate Controller. This is a hybrid role in San Jose, CA.

Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Corporate Controller assumes responsibility for managing accounting records, risk assessment, regulatory compliance, financial statement publication, oversight of accounting operations, financial data analysis, expenditure monitoring, and coordination of auditing processes. This role demands an analytical mindset, a commitment to surpassing expectations, and a visionary and ethical approach to financial management. You will work closely with the CFO.

Core Responsibilities

Serve as the primary support for month, quarter, and year-end financial activities.

Monitor the financial performance of the organization.

Compile and analyze financial reporting packages and associated documentation.

Prepare reports, including monthly profit and loss statements and accounts receivable aging reports.

Manage cash flow by coordinating timely collections with project managers and clients.

Ensure prompt payments to suppliers and collaborate with purchasing personnel.

Oversee all data processing operations to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

Manage all operating unit assets, including fixed assets and accounts receivable.

Guarantee adherence to federal, state, local, and company regulatory requirements within financial and accounting functions and controls.

Communicate financial metrics to senior management.

Reconcile actual monthly financial results and analyze variances.

Drive the utilization of Deltek Vision/Vantage across the organization by proposing and implementing process and report enhancements.

Maintain proper documentation for executed contracts, completed change orders, bonds, certificates of insurance, and relevant subcontracts.

Review credit applications and D&B reports for new and potential customers when necessary.

Review and approve purchase orders, accounts payable, expense vouchers, and account adjustments.

Coordinate internal and external audit schedules and requirements.

Develop and enhance business processes and internal controls.

Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Lead and participate in special projects as required.

Supervise direct reports, including the Accounts Payable Specialist and Revenue Manager, and the Revenue Team.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate

Minimum of 5-7 years' experience as a Controller.

Deep knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices.

Strong familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations governing financial and accounting practices.

Competence in PC-based job cost, general ledger, and fixed asset systems.

Possesses an analytical mind with strategic acumen.

Demonstrates exceptional organizational and leadership skills.

Exhibits outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.

Capable of making sound decisions and delivering accurate and timely results.

Self-motivated, hands-on manager, able to excel with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Proficient in strategic information monitoring, problem-solving, and building positive relationships across various organizational levels.

Upholds integrity and professionalism.

Highly skilled in Deltek Vision or Vantage, and other financial management software.

Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Master's degree is preferred.

CPA or relevant qualification is a plus.
