Role: Senior Casting Associate

Overview:

The Senior Casting Associate is integral to the casting department, focusing on the selection, booking, and management of talent to meet the dynamic needs of our projects. It includes direct report management, organization of in-person casting calls, and close collaboration with both internal teams and talent to ensure alignment with creative visions and strategic goals.

Responsibilities:

Direct Report Management:

Oversee the daily activities and development of 1-2 direct reports, including performance management, goal setting, and professional development.

Conduct regular check-ins and provide constructive feedback to direct reports to foster a productive and supportive team environment.

Talent Selection and Management:

Receive and fulfill talent requests and priorities with minimal guidance from the Manager of Casting by the assigned deadline.

Ensure talent are accepted by the creative team 80%-90% of the time.

Select talent aligned with request and account strategy goals by utilizing Talent Survival Guides. Present selected talent to the Creative Team within a 2-3 business day window unless otherwise noted.

Handle the entire talent booking process from initiation to completion without assistance, including updating talent request boards and ensuring talent setup in payroll platforms.

Talent Sourcing and Booking:

Spend 80% of time executing assigned footage needs and talent requests; allocate 20% of time to sourcing prospective talent for the Casting Team Database through casting sites, social media outreach, or other methods.

Create and maintain Self-Taped talent briefs as needed.

Review footage before delivery to ensure adherence to the Talent Brief and quality standards.

In-Person Casting Calls:

Organize and host in-person casting calls at the studio to scout and select talent for various projects.

Coordinate logistics for casting calls, including scheduling, venue setup, and compliance with health and safety regulations.

Evaluate and select talent during casting calls in alignment with project requirements and creative direction.

Collaboration and Improvement:

Collaborate with the internal TS casting team to share top-performing talent for further bookings and talent analysis.

Seek feedback from the Creative Team on delivered footage to improve the success rate and reduce review rounds.

Stay up-to-date with department-wide best practices, including performance learnings, shooting techniques, workflow tactics, etc.

Seek mentorship from Senior-level peers to continue improving footage development and strategic thinking.

Flag issues with existing processes and relay feedback and suggestions to the Manager of Casting.

Administrative and Compliance Responsibilities:

Track all client-related production expenses in accordance with company best practices and mandates in a timely manner.

Under general guidance, input all receipts and transactions into team budget trackers, Ramp, and Wrapbook.

Attend required meetings as mandated by the Manager of Casting.

Have an in-depth understanding of client targets, performance metrics, and influencing factors on job performance, as provided in Talent Survival Guides or by the Manager of Casting.

Required Skills And Qualifications:

Familiarity with casting and project management software, as well as social media platforms and other digital tools for talent sourcing. Ability to leverage technology for efficient talent management and communication.

Understanding of the entertainment industry, current trends in casting, and knowledge of emerging talent. Continuous learning to stay ahead of industry shifts and innovations.

Advanced communication and negotiation skills, essential for liaising with talent, agents, and internal teams. Ability to articulate expectations, negotiate contracts, and resolve discrepancies effectively.

Proficient in using data and metrics to inform decisions, evaluate talent performance, and improve casting processes. Understanding of key performance indicators (KPIs) related to casting success and talent retention.

Strong decision-making skills with the capability to make informed choices under pressure, balancing creative needs with logistical constraints.

Prior managerial experience and/or training

Demonstrates high emotional intelligence with the ability to navigate diverse team dynamics, manage conflicts, and motivate team members effectively.

Location: Los Angeles (Hybrid-in office part-time)

Compensation:

TubeScience provides the wage ranges it reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for all remote roles and as otherwise required by applicable law. The expected range of starting pay for this role is $75,000 – $85,000 annually. Actual compensation may vary within the listed range based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, experience, and specific geographic location.
