Job Overview – Senior Level Head of Operations
This position reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the management of all Business Unit Executive Directors, Directors, Project Executives and Project Managers who oversee our construction projects by providing oversight and management for the operations department in executing the strategic plan, as it relates to construction, by establishing priorities and determining resource allocation for efficient and effective delivery of all construction projects. This position is responsible for maintaining and driving operational results from project “Kick-Off” to “Close-Out”.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company including interfacing with finance, management of field operations, supervision of project staffing and on-site progress
Plan, Manage, and direct all Construction Operation business functions
Champion Holt’s commitment to Safety
Control over all construction operations, responsible for maintaining and driving operational results
In charge of projects from “Kick-Off to “Close-Out”
Project Staffing
Scheduling and Timely Completion
Project Purchasing
Provide monthly financial reports (WIP) for all jobs in progress
Create & Monitor Performance Goals
Interface with Executive Leadership Team, Estimating & Manage the on-site Construction Managers who oversee the various on-site construction projects
Full understanding of project financials including, but not limited to, forecasting, WIP and cash flow schedules and analysis
Responsible for Operation’s Strategic and Business Plan
Assist with Business Development, Client Development and Client Retention
Establish project and employee performance goals; allocate resources necessary to achieve the goals. Closely monitor performance goals and institute corrective measures where necessary.
Assist staff in developing and executing strategy during construction.
Proactively identify potential risk issues and establish a preventative action plan to address them.
Provide effective problem resolutions to improve working relationships between the client and project teams.
Develop strong internal and external relationships and work with project teams to ensure projects are properly scoped and executed according to plan
Create a strong collaborative team environment
In Coordination with Senior Leadership:
Assist in troubleshooting, negotiating, and mediating client or subcontractor issues
Ensure subcontractors complies with all contract requirements, including OCIP enrollments, OCIP reporting, project insurance standard.
Assist in preparing contracts and implementing approved revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements and others as required
Assist in Identifying and communicating owner contract risks to CEO and President via executive summary in compliance with Contract Procedure
Responsible for corporate enhancements to both better serve clients and workplace
Overseeing contract administration, cost control, and cash flow analysis
Provide oversight and accountability, keeping various projects and Construction Managers on track, on schedule for completion, and on budget for cost
Travel to job sites to conduct random inspections on a routine basis
Travel to Holt offices on a routine basis
Work with Human Resources on Training, Development and Succession Planning initiatives
Requirements
Excellent Leadership and Management skills
Proven “hands on” working experience in construction management and/or project management
Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods
Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
Understanding of all facets of the construction process
Familiarity with construction management software packages- (Procore and Viewpoint a plus)
Ability to plan and see the “big picture”
Competent in conflict and crisis management
People development and human resources management skills
Excellent time and project management skills
BS degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or field
Minimum of 15+ years of field knowledge/experience
