Job Summary
SafePoint Insurance is a leader in the coastal insurance industry, offering a wide range of insurance products. This position is an Actuarial Analyst requiring a candidate with a mathematical background, strong analytical and communication skills, and the eagerness to grow. The Actuarial Analyst is responsible for supporting business needs with data analysis and insight. The Analyst will help analyze the financial costs of risk and uncertainty.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and maintains insurance rates and premium calculations for personal and commercial lines insurance products. Maintains policy management system database. Mainly working with Homeowners and Business insurance lines.
Assists in developing new products and performing competitive analysis.
Provide actuarial support for personal and commercial filings, including preparing analyses, providing pricing recommendations, and responding to insurance department objections.
Uses catastrophe modeling software to estimate the losses that could be sustained due to a catastrophic event.
Uses their knowledge of math and numerical operations to solve monetary or risk management problems.
Performing ad hoc actuarial research and statistical analyses as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or financial related field
A strong background in mathematics and statistics.
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, databases, statistical analysis programs and programming languages.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and communicate clearly.

Ability to perform complex mathematical equations
Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate technical ideas to a non-technical audience. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, such as computers, keyboards, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages, and other items, and to walk short distances.
