Senior Trader

JOB STATEMENT:

The Senior Trader will be responsible for overseeing the trade services offered by Worldsource Securities Inc. ("WSI") and will also be responsible for the oversight of processing and settlement of all Syndication related activities. This highly motivated and energetic candidate will advocate for service excellence and work to deliver solutions that meet the needs of WWM’s clients. Furthermore, the Senior Trader will work closely with team members to resolve any outstanding issues that may arise, and will act as a customer-focused champion by developing and maintaining strong relationships with wealth advisors and other WSI stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Supporting the portfolio managers with responsibilities such as entering trades into the trading system, settling trades, and investigating trade breaks with the Reconciliation team;

Monitoring the asset allocation, as per our prescribed mandates, and status of our clients according to their investment policy specifications;

Performing rebalancing analysis according to client specifications and mandate prescription;

Performing day-to-day management of cash for all managed programs in accordance to program mandate;

Preparing and submitting required trades to investment managers and custodians;

Verifying trade execution with reports received from investment managers and custodians;

Identifying control gaps in trading operations and recommending changes to mitigate operational risk;

Executing separately managed account rebalancing and providing trade assistance to advisor inquiries;

Organizing the prioritization for large volumes of requests, ensuring that trade adjustments and trade error exposures are actioned accordingly in a timely manner;

Acting as a key point of contact when troubleshooting is needed, identifying items requiring immediate escalation to the Senior Manager, Administration and Trade Support;

Responding to other departments and stakeholders, whether internal or external, in a timely manner;

Providing clear and concise communication to internal parties when issues arise that could/would affect other stakeholders;

Working with senior management to create monthly and quarterly reports on key trading, investment and risk metrics;

Conducting research and quality control on defunct/delisted securities; and

Ensuring the accuracy of trading activities for managed accounts and coordination of activities specific to investment operations (i.e. implementation, mandates changes, termination and corporate actions).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Post-secondary degree, preferably with an orientation toward business, economics or finance

CSC, CPH, IIROC/CIRO licensed is an asset

7 – 10 years of similar experience within the investment industry, working with IIROC member firms and licensed advisors and knowledge of the independent dealer channels

Well versed in the rules that apply to equities, fixed income, FX, options and GIC trading

Thorough knowledge of the securities industry and industry regulations

Familiar with Dataphile, Morningstar, Conquest, PortfolioAid, Envestnet and the Fidelity Unifide platform would be an asset

Strong knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office products

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Prior experience working with custodians, investment managers and investment consulting firms

Experience working in the trade operations area of an investment management firm
