Course Description:This course will examine the law of mortgages of land and its practical application; rights of the mortgagor to discharge of the mortgage; remedies of the mortgagee including actions for payment and possession, foreclosure, power of sale and judicial sale; interest charged in mortgages; guarantees of mortgage obligations; sale of land subject to mortgage; priority between mortgage and other claimants; rights to insurance money; consolidation and marshalling; and other related matters.

Requirements:

The Common Law Section is seeking candidates who are leaders in the legal profession. An LL.B., J.D., or equivalent is required for this position. Membership in the Law Society of Ontario (or equivalent) in good standing is also required. The successful candidate will have significant practical experience in the area of property law and mortgages. Prior teaching experience will be considered an asset.
