Site Safety & Health Officer

Job Description

The SSHO will be responsible for the direct Safety and Compliance oversight of all Abatement, Demolition & Site Restoration activities for a USACE Project at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Edgewood, MD; including any additional subcontractors. Candidate must be based within normal daily commuting distance from APG.

Essential Functions:

Lead daily safety meetings and conduct routine safety/health inspections and report back weekly to the office

Conduct refresher training as needed; including but not limited to tools, lifts, confined space etc

Conduct compliance assurance for all Asbestos Containments & Workplans

Coordinate any corrective actions with EnviroVantage Site Superintendent

Experience:

Minimum 5-10yrs Experience as a safety officer in the Asbestos Abatement, Demolition. Remediation field

OSHA 30 and HAZWOPER 40 required. If not current, willing to get certificate within 30 days of hire

Previous experience as an SSHO on a USACE project - required

Ability to speak Spanish - preferred

Strong working knowledge and experience with OSHA:1926.1101;1926.62 and others

Strong working knowledge of EM385-1-1

Working Environment/Physical Demands:

Respirator usage will be required

Must be able to perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, walking, carrying, and using a force equal to lifting 50 to 100 pounds

Qualified Candidate must be able to pass a physical examination by medical professional for the anticipated work requirements

Must be able to pass a background check and be able to obtain access to military bases across the United States

A valid driver’s license is required, as well as a safe driving record as measured by company policy
