Responsibilities

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

Supervise and mentor the project financial team, ensuring adequate training, development, and performance evaluation.

Establish and maintain project accounting systems, processes, and controls, and ensure alignment with corporate accounting standards and best practices.

Review and approve project set-up, budget revisions, cost allocations, revenue recognition, and project closure in the system.

Monitor and reconcile project accounts, transactions, and balances, and resolve any discrepancies or issues.

Coordinate and collaborate with project managers, staff, and clients on project financial matters, such as budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, collections, and contract compliance.

Prepare and deliver project financial reports and dashboards, such as project status, variance analysis, profitability, cash flow, and earned value.

Analyze project performance and profitability and provide insights and recommendations to senior management and project teams.

Ensure compliance with internal and external project financial policies, procedures, and regulations, such as GAAP & FAR.

Support internal and external audits and provide documentation and information as requested.

Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, efficiency, and automation in project accounting.

Stay abreast of project accounting trends, best practices, and regulations, and provide guidance and training to project teams and staff.

Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience:

Education/Certificates/Licenses: BA or MA in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA preferred.

Experience: Ten or more years of experience in project accounting, preferably in a government contracting or professional services environment. Five or more years of supervisory or managerial experience.

Skills/Training:

Expertise in project accounting principles, practices, and systems, such as GAAP & FAR.

Proficiency in accounting software, such as Deltek, and MS Office, especially Excel.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Technology Savvy.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively with project managers, staff, clients, and external stakeholders.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.

Leadership, teamwork, and mentoring skills.

Fully bilingual (Spanish/English).
