Position Description

This position supports day to day business and programming operations at RiverScape MetroPark- Dayton's Front Porch. This position is a key element of maintaining a great visitor experience during various activities at RiverScape MetroPark in both the Summer (May-August) and Winter (November-February) seasons and supports Five River's MetroParks mission to provide personal connections with nature. Seasonally, this includes Winter and Summer operations of the RiverScape Café; Winter Operation of the MetroParks Ice Rink; Summer operation of the RiverScape Fountain Snack Bar, Paddling Rentals, RiverScape Fitness and Lunch-time entertainment programming. Roles include general customer service, cashier, food concession support, rental support, and ice safety.

Duties/Responsibilities

Food concessions support through food preparation and cashiering.

General customer service, including, but not limited to, answering or triaging questions and issues as they arise related to wayfinding, experience, and agency questions.

Maintaining rental equipment.

Monitoring visitor experiences during programs and various special rentals

RiverScape Programming set up and tear down support- including Music at Lunch and Fitness in the Park.

General cleaning and organizing of business and rental concession spaces.

Set up and tear down of rental concession businesses.

Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance and works outside of normal schedule as required.

Other duties as assigned.

Provides service to the public, responding to questions, offering assistance, supporting programs/events and providing information.

Work as part of a team delivering positive youth development programs to include supporting program activities as needed.

Supports coordination of programming, activities and events with park staff.

Collaborates internally, within and across departmental boundaries, to provide information and service to others in the organization to contribute to the effective operation of the agency and all staff.

Attends and delivers professional development and training opportunities. Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A combination of appropriate education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is:

Applicant must be at least 16 years of age for concessions/rental and 21 years of age for alcohol sales.

Availability to work between 20 and 25 hours. Willingness and ability to work an irregular schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed. Excellent verbal communication skills required.

Preferred cooking experience in quantity cooking or institutional food service. Required Ohio Person-In-Charge (level one) Certification in Food Protection (must be secured within one year of hire).

Applicant must have a willingness to work a varied schedule that includes weekends and evenings that consists of first and second shifts. Additionally, the applicant will have the ability and interest to work as member in a team environment.

Employer contributions to the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) are included in this position.
