Task Description:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Facility Space and Construction Management Branch of SAF/AA.

The organization objectives of this position are: to provide real property space acquisition, allocation and management, project management, supply/furniture procurement, and gift support to the Headquarters Department of the Air Force, and other Air Force activities in the Pentagon and throughout the National Capital Region.

Serve as the single point of contact for all Headquarters, Department of the Air Force (HQ DAF) space management planning matters in the Pentagon, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Joint Base Andrews, and leased space in the NCR.

Initiates, plans, and coordinates real property programs. Conducts interviews and on-site inspections and develops approved space validation consistent with the Rules of Engagement (ROE) established by the SAF/AA, OSD, and GSA instruction/policy.

Develops policies, procedures and instructions for facility space allocation and management based on higher level instruction and best practices. Procures, manages, allocates and controls the utilization of office, storage, and special use space for HQ DAF offices and DRUs/FOAs/Named Activities in the Pentagon and the NCR. Typically includes acquisitions, disposal, facility utilization, in-grant/out-grant, lease management accountability reporting and budget development.

Prepares and submits to Washington Headquarters Services (WHS) requests for new space, adjustments to existing space and provides these offices with prescribed space reports. Manages the preparation and submission of all necessary documentations for all requests for space to OSD.

Reviews, staffs, and is the primary OPR for all movement of HAF relocations within, into, our out of the NCR. Develops relocation places for AF senior leaders approval designating divisions, directorates, and staff agencies relocating within or into the NCR. Formulates and coordinates plans with affected HQ DAF staff agencies to ensure needs are properly identified and supported. Responsible for planning and submission of rent data for HQ DAF space into the Program Objective Memorandum (POM) budget process. Receives and investigates requests for alterations and specific requirements involving changes to HQ DAF space. Participates in management planning involving addition of function and/or personnel realignment of functions and activities and other matters having an impact on space allocation to HQ DAF. Develops and manages the operating budget for HQ DAF alterations, repairs, and services in leased facilities. Consults with flag officers and senior civilian officials from Air Force, OSD, and GSA.

Represents the Operations Directorate with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Meets with key customer and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organization policy and procedures, and resolve problems that arise.

Would like to clarify that this person would ideally have interior design, AutoCAD, and data analytics experience. Their main objective is to verify data in AutoCAD and then analyze that data in Excel to maximize space utilization (e.g., "how many more square feet would we need to fit four more people in this office?")
