What Can You Expect as part of the EandM Engineering team?

EandM team members create and implement applications for industrial automation systems.

EandM serves clients in a wide range of industries; our clients include wineries, semiconductor manufacturers, and everything in between.

EandM employees interact with clients' daily working on project assignments, service calls, project reviews, and post-implementation support.

Assignments are diverse and include many aspects of industrial automation, including manufacturing, distribution (with an emphasis on discrete and process control) and real-time data transactions.

A Day in the Life of an EandM Engineer:

Work as part of a team to create and implement real-time control applications for industrial automation systems.

Working as part of a team, you will be given the responsibility to complete many projects independently.

In addition to a full schedule of technical work, you will interact with customers in project reviews and post-implementation support.

Your thorough understanding of computer systems and software, your ability to learn quickly, and your ability to implement solutions quickly will be tested at Serra. Never a dull moment!

The Responsibilities of a Control Systems Engineer:

Development of detailed functional specification documents prior to software implementation.

Development of software including HMIs and PLCs as described in functional specifications.

Debug software systems including PLC wiring, control logic and HMI bugs.

Basic Project Management.

Document the operation and design of systems clearly and completely.

Provide customer support for installed systems.

What Qualifications are Required?

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are REQUIRED.

A fundamental understanding of computer hardware and system architecture.

A fundamental understanding of communications protocols and networking for industrial applications.

Fluent in modern PLC Ladder logic programming and textual scripting.

Desirable skills in C, C++, and VB, and modern programming techniques (OOP).

Desirable skill in working with collaborative robotics.

Supplementary knowledge of relational SQL databases and their applications.

Knowledge of Siemens control software/hardware is highly desirable.

Experience in creating front-end interfaces (HMIs, GUIs) is highly desirable.

MUST work well with people and be a self-starter in your work.

MUST combine professionalism and enthusiasm in approach to your work.

A College Major of EITHER: Engineering and/or Computer Science

A Bachelor's Degree is PREFERRED.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to remain in a stationary (sitting) position for extended periods of time

Must be able to type and perform other computer-related work for extended periods of time
