Job Summary:

CNPC USA is actively seeking creative, innovative, best-in-class experts to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Sr. Electronics CAD (ECAD) Designer.

The Sr. Electronics CAD Designer reports directly to the Electrical Engineer and indirectly to the Product Development Lead.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the development of all aspects of downhole electronic assemblies including high sensitivity sensors, actuators, motor controls, power supplies, and signal digitalization(s).

Utilize computer-assisted design software(s) to create schematics and PCB layouts.

Suggest and guide component selection(s).

Document technical data generated and maintain consistency with engineering policies and procedures.

Function as an independent resource and technical support contact when appropriate.

Maintain and improve electrical instruments, equipment(s), components, products and systems.

Write manufacturing and test procedures and reports.

Set up and conduct testing on electronic components and assemblies, including circuit board assembly(ies), wire routing, sensor installation(s), integration(s) with mechanical systems, data collection(s), and environmental chamber configuration(s).

Participate in project team meetings, design reviews and all activities related to the development of new products.

Conduct all business activities in agreement with CNPC USA core values.

Assumes and/or performs other duties as assigned.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

In-depth knowledge of design rules and standards for PCB layout(s), board assemblies for downhole electronics, power electronics and mixed signal electronics.

Significant experience with PCB design software(s) (Altium Designer).

Familiar with the following:

Creating and maintaining component libraries and database(s) for PCB layout(s) and part’s management.

PCB manufacturing and circuit board assembly procedure(s).

Simple mechanical designs.

Understand the principles of electronics design(s).

Hands on electronics prototype construction(s) and testing experience(s), including test setup(s); rig down(s) and proficiency with test equipment(s).

Must be proficient with:

Circuit board assembly(ies).

Wire routing(s).

Sensor installation(s) - particularly mounting of thin foil strain gauges.

Integration(s) with mechanical systems.

Data collection(s).

Environmental chamber configuration(s).

Team player and self-starter with the ability to operate without detailed work direction.

Ability to work well as part of a design team and able to work independently when required.

Qualification(s):

Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and/or related discipline, is required.

Minimum of five (5) years’ experience with downhole tool electronics design and PCB layout.

Hands on testing experience for electronics components and assemblies, also required.

Must be eligible to work in the United States of America.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office and lab environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, etc. The role also includes maintenance of the electronic lab, and uses lab equipment such as solder station(s), rework station(s), microscope(s) to inspect, rework PCB assemblies, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing and the ability to lift 20+ lbs. and/or bending, is required.

Travel:

This position requires some overnight international and domestic travel. Local travel between other CNPC USA locations and testing facilities is required.

Supervisory Responsibility:
