Manufacturer of large industrial equipment with one of the most capable machine shops in Northeast Louisiana.

We are looking for a skilled Machinist to operate a variety of machines to perform assigned tasks. The employee will produce or repair precision parts using both manual and automated equipment and accurate measurements. A great machinist needs to possess manual dexterity, an eye for detail and have knowledge of mathematics and mechanics as well as respect for safety precautions. The goal is to ensure effective production operations and optimize procedures. PSI will provide paid, on the job training as well.

Responsibilities - The position requires the employee to perform a wide variety of duties including, but not limited to the following key functions:

Essential Functions

1. Must display good attitude conducive to a shop environment

2. Must work well with others as a team

3. Must perform duties in a safe and efficient manner

4. Must be able to setup, operate and maintain large, medium and small lathes, mills, drill presses and other related machine shop equipment

5. Skilled in CNC machining including mills, drills, and lathes

6. Skilled in Manual lathes, drill presses, and mills for small to large equipment

7. Able to make small programs at the machine via VPS system

8. Ensure machines are running and maintained properly prior to use

9. Skilled in machining various products according to drawing details and special job instructions

10. Skilled in reading tape measure, micrometers, calipers and scales

11. Good understanding of rigging and using overhead crane and forklift

12. Must be willing to lean and perform other tasks and duties as needed

13. Good understanding of programming

14. Ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions

15. Other duties as required

Expectations

1. Ability to provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. Technical documentation including ability to communicate technical information clearly in written form or verbally so that instructions can be followed with minimal chance for error.

2. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality, etc.

3. Great sense of urgency

4. Good communication and people skills

5. Be able to think quickly and critically in response to scope changes on small to large equipment

6. Self-driven

7. Ability to work independently and with other personnel

8. Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 40 per week
