Job Description

OVERVIEW

Under the direction of the Lead HR Generalist, this position is responsible for a variety of technical and support duties related to daily HR functions, including recruitment, hiring and onboarding, employee relations, HRIS database administration, benefits, compliance, and maintenance of personnel information.

This position is required to work onsite in the office, and will report to our HQ office in Arlington, VA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations;

Keep aware of employment related law, changing legal regulations and trends in the field of HR and report findings;

Manage the recruitment and hiring process; review job templates and job requisition for accuracy and compliance and post current open job vacancies on various recruitment sites; develop interview and other recruitment documentation for hiring managers and participate in interviews as needed or requested; oversee the offer of employment stage and follow-up hiring and onboarding process;

Serve as site benefits administrator and serve as a liaison with carriers, team members, and other key stakeholders; perform day to day administration including enrollment, changes, and terminations in benefit and insurance systems; reconcile monthly benefits plans through eligibility, enrollment, premium and audit reports; respond to inquiries on benefits and insurance by troubleshooting problems and interfacing with carriers and employees; presenting benefits orientations to staff;

Respond to staff inquiries regarding compensation, leave, benefits and other HR related topics or issues;

Maintain and ensure that employee records included personnel and confidential files that are in accordance with legal requirements, ORR requirements, USCRI policies and procedures and HR best practice;

Coordinate the separation process and conduct exit meetings and be aware of patterns and report potential risk issues to the Associate Director and/or President and CEO;

Enter and maintains human resource information system records and review for accuracy;

Prepare personnel action forms, employee changes, and other documents pertaining to employment and respond to unemployment compensation claims and request for employment and pay information;

Train new hires, support staff, supervisors, and managers on HR related topics;

Maintain training documentation and files and enter this information in the appropriate systems;

Generate correspondence, administrative reports and related documentation as assigned;

Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Nonprofit Management, Management or other related field and at least five years of experience is preferred;

Spanish speaking is preferred.

SHRM and/or HRCI certification is desired;

Familiarity with ADP or other HRIS system is preferred;

Knowledge of employment -related laws FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, FCRA, IRCA, etc., and knowledge of benefits administration is strongly preferred;

Ability to practice discretion and maintain strict confidentiality and security of personnel files and information.

Ability to prioritize workload, multitask and pay close attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to prioritize duties independently, think strategically, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment;

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well independently is required;

Proficiency in Microsoft Office required, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint;

Exceptional time management and attention to detail;

Must pass a criminal background and other screening;

Ability to evaluate/interpret information and make good and independent judgements or decisions; and

Demonstrated support of USCRI’s values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Satisfactory Completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training;

Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity;

Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands;

Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying;

Ability to remain calm and composed under stress; and

Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
