Galveston County Health District is seeking an Immunizations Coordinator-Registered Nurse!

This position is responsible for focusing on COVID-19, influenza, and other necessary vaccines for disproportionate populations. In addition, this position will coordinate and promote vaccine awareness and confidence through community engagement efforts.

Required:

Graduation from an accredited nursing program

Graduation from an accredited nursing program

Current RN licensure by the Texas Board of Nursing

6+ months of employment experience as an RN, 1+ years preferred

Preferred Experience in a local health department and/or any experience using population-based activities to address a public health concern is preferred.

Skill in providing clinical nursing assessments and routine nursing procedures

Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and reasoning in the assessment of patients

Ability to follow Standing Delegation Orders (SDOs) of a licensed physician and/or county health authority

Current CPR Certification

Clerical and/or customer service experience required.

Bilingual in Spanish Preferred

Ability for spur-of-the-moment transportation without relying on organization vehicles

Must possess or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Texas for the type of vehicle or equipment operated

Department of Motor Vehicle check may be required, if applicable

Customer Service Oriented

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Excellent Computer Skills in MS Office

Ability to learn and utilize new software systems

Ability to apply common sense, understanding, and sound judgment to carry out essential functions

Must be willing and able to work evening and weekend hours if necessary

Must be able to handle multiple tasks and follow directives

Must comply with GCHD Immunizations policy

Must comply with ICS training requirements

Must pass a criminal background check and drug/alcohol screening

An equivalent combination of education and work experience which appropriately demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above described essential functions will be considered when hiring for this role.

Traditional Duties:

Acts as an Immunization Program liaison

Tracks all vaccine data and maintain accurate vaccine inventory records and daily logs on all vaccines maintained and administered

Works to build relationships with community stakeholders in order to promote vaccine accessibility and confidence

Answers medical and vaccine-related questions

Refers patients to other health care sources as needed or identified

Maintains daily documentation of interactions with patients

Helps in the control and follow-up of communicable diseases.

Works with staff to maintain optimum patient flow and maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area

Keeps copies of patient education materials available

Ensures patient information is protected according to HIPAA requirements

Maintains current procedures on applicable ordinances, laws, and acts affecting the proper disposal of medical waste

Understands and follows GCHD Infection Control policies, plans, procedures, and guidelines related to program area requirements

Properly disposes of biohazard waste

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
