MBDA Inc. is currently seeking an Assembler. This is a great opportunity for a high-performing individual to join MBDA’s Huntsville, Alabama, Team!

Desired Experience

A minimum of one year’s experience with mechanical assembly (testing) and basic soldering of manufactured electro-mechanical Assemblies is required. Must have experience with and the comprehension ability to read and understand Assembly Drawings and Assembly Work Instructions and Test documentation. Must demonstrate a dedication to quality and work effectively as a team member in a dynamic, fast-paced production environment. This position requires skills working in a shop-floor controlled environment using an on-line manufacturing execution system (“paperless factory”). Experience working in an ISO9001 or AS9100 environment is a plus.

This position is Monday through Thursday 4:00 pm to 2:30 am (10 hour shift with a 30 minute meal break x 4 times per week).

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, drawings, specifications, and parts lists; gathers hardware, piece-parts, sub-assemblies, tools, and materials, as needed for assembly operations

Assembles components and piece-parts into higher-level sub-assemblies; assembles sub-assemblies into top-level Assembly; uses torque tools, arbor presses, and various special tooling/fixtures and assembly aids to accomplish assembly operations

Performs tests/measurements to verify top-level Assemblies conform to all applicable requirements

Troubleshoots and documents any defects, anomalies or failures.

Keeps manufacturing equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following internal instructions, calling for repairs

Documents all actions by completing data entry in on-line manufacturing execution system

Monitors product standards and implements quality-control directives, as applicable

May be requested to fulfill other production-related duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma (or GED) and/or technical trade courses

Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Department of Defense Security Clearance

Proficient in computer usage for production recordkeeping

Excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude

Ability to use standard shop floor tools with precision

General knowledge of operation of automated test equipment as well as standard suite of manual electrical test equipment such as multi-meters / DMMs, oscilloscopes, etc.

Experience operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine a plus.

Soldering experience and/ or J-STD-001 certification a plus

Ability to effectively assemble various sized components, piece-parts and sub-assemblies while ensuring correct final configuration

Flexible to work varied overtime and weekends if required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIORNMENT

This position requires full-time employment and willingness to work extra hours as required.

In the performance of essential duties, requires mental alertness, keen vision, and fitness to meet requirements.

Must be manually dexterous with both hands

Able to lift up to 40 pounds; two-person lifting is preferred for safety and reduces the 40-pound lifting requirement

May be required to work in an environment with explosive material as well as other hazardous materials as classified by the US DoT.

Working conditions are typical office and production operations environments.
