Description: As a Manufacturing Welding Engineer, you will perform a variety of repetitive processes using varied machines and/or hand tools to complete the assembly and /or sub-assembly of component parts.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Execute manufacturing process improvements that result in meeting customer expectations (internal and external), project objectives, and comply with our QMS. The key functions and accountabilities for this role are:

Leading and mentoring others to ensure effective decision-making regarding process challenges to meet daily production schedules and long-term improvement goals. This is demonstrated by:

Having direct involvement with our Shop Floor Associates to develop and assist in completion of their suggestions for waste elimination

Applying Visual Factory concepts to facilitate 5S Activities

Applying World Class Manufacturing techniques to improve shop floor flow

Generation and analysis of data to focus and drive improvements for product quality, process reliability, and productivity.

Communication, planning, and execution of engineering tryouts in production setting for process changes related to continuous improvement or in response to customer corrective actions.

Maintenance of process documents and controls to ensure long term predictable results related to quality and cost.

Participation in the design and production validation of proposed manufacturing processes for selected new business opportunities through our cross-functional APQP process.

Participation in the Capital Planning process and execution of projects to install/implement equipment and processes to meet that plan.

Develop welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment in assembly of metals, utilizing AWS and/or customer production specifications, material properties and characteristics of metals, and engineering principles.

Conduct research and development investigations to develop and test new assembly processes and procedures; improve existing or develop new welding equipment; develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures; discover new patterns of welding phenomena; or to correlate and substantiate hypotheses.

Establish welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel.

Determine the training requirements for production welders.

Establish certification & recertification processes for production welders.

Develop and document welding process parameters and setup instructions.

Direct and coordinate technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards; in testing welds for conformance with national code requirements; or testing welding personnel for certification.

Experience and Education Required:

2 Year Technical Associates Degree, minimum.

4 Year Engineering Degree, preferred.

10 Years in a Manufacturing Environment, if 2 Year Degree

5 Years in a Manufacturing Environment, if 4 Year Degree

Certified Weld Engineer per AWS B5.16:2006, preferred
