Position Summary:

Analyzes solutions for the most complex issues using experience and provides advice and assistance for area of specialty. Uses advanced techniques, theories, and processes to complete work. Observed as an industry expert. Leads most complex projects & programs in area of specialty. Creates and shares best practices across geographies. Demonstrates distinguished level communication skills; able to summarize complex business problems and solutions for presentation to executive leadership or to Board of Directors on matters of strategic importance. Provides leadership, coaching, reviewing the work of and/or mentoring to peers and colleagues.

Primary point of responsibility for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of individual investment opportunities. The Investment Analytics professional collects and analyzes data for the development of investment\forecasting strategies for one or more portfolios and interprets price, yield, stability, or other financial metrics. These roles also track and report on current or expected financial performance and makes recommendations meant to improve portfolio returns. Drives innovation and development of future techniques to continuously improve underwriting results and processes.

This is a hybrid position working onsite 3 days per week in our Norfolk, VA Headquarters, and ability to be remote on Fridays and Mondays.

Possible Relocation Assistance will be provided for the right out of town candidate.

Professional Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

Expert-level experience in Discount Cash Flow/DCF modeling and NPL Markets using data analytic tools.

Advanced in report building and Cash flow Model Development and has ability to mine data through relational programming tools such as SQL.

10+ years’ Cash Flow Modeling work experience.

8+ years’ NPL work experience.

Minimum 5-year SQL experience

Expert in Transact-SQL (TSQL), Procedural Language extension SQL or any other type of SQL

Can architect, develop and document data structures required for analysis using databases.

Expert in Data Analysis R, Python, Power BI and or other analysis tools.

Strong leadership skills.

Ability to independently design and solve complex business problems.

Ability to present solutions and explain technical concepts and results to upper level management and at conferences to peer groups.

Ability to think strategically and in big picture context when developing business proposals.

Expert in Cash flow in model development.

Ability to digest industry and academic studies and test new methodologies and insights.

Capable of building automation into processes and reports.

Strong communication skills with regards to interacting with support teams to document and develop technical solutions.

Education:

Required BA/BS in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or quantitative field

Preferred Advanced Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or quantitative field

Certifications:

Advanced Degree/ Certifications: MS, MBA, CFA; Actuarial Certifications preferred

Key Responsibilities:

Identify issues and process improvement opportunities and work with other areas of the business to analysis, report and resolve discrepancies (including taking ownership of actions/projects where appropriate).

Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and company policies across areas of organizational responsibility.

Manages multiple projects in addition to day to day process tasks management on larger value items.

Acts as the project owner for department when needed and present findings to stakeholders.

Assists in provide expertise on statistical and mathematical concepts used by the broader analytics team.

Assists or leads the creation of automated processes that deliver predictions to internal business partners for use in acquisitions and operations.

Creates monthly time series forecasts of collections for internal business partners.

Interprets data concerning price and future trends of consumer loan purchase market. Preparing portfolio purchase recommendations for individual portfolios including recommended maximum bid price.

Maintains a strong understanding of all PRA data sources with respect to their data structure and definitions.

Maintains ongoing self-study program to enhance knowledge of various software and computer languages, including, but not limited to Structured Query Language (SQL), Visual Basic, MS Access, MS Excel, R and Python. Must be able to discover and learn new programming languages and apply them to solve new business challenges.

Maintain ownership of complex SQL Stored Procedure processes.

Performs ad hoc data analysis with the use of statistical analysis; machine learning algorithms; or data mining techniques.

Performs data analysis & reporting using Oracle PL-SQL, Microsoft T-SQL, R, Python and other statistical tools.

Provides Business Development with feedback to aid in negotiations. Recommends inventory management changes or account level treatment changes based on the analysis conducted.

Responsible for reviewing and improving analytics processes, methods, and tools to increase efficiency, accuracy, and security.

Study existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness and create new systems to improve production or workflow as required. Use and understand sophisticated data modeling techniques.

Works with other departments to acquire or provide data necessary for portfolio valuation, analysis, and loading.

Acts as the subject matter expert for underwriting NPL portfolios for all US markets.

Develops and communicates modeling strategies to other members of Portfolio Performance.

Follows industry trends in data science/analytical processes and businesses. Functions as the analytics expert in meetings with other internal areas and external vendors. Actively participates in proof of concept tests of new data, software and technologies.

Gathers source data and performs data preparation / data cleaning for modeling and analysis.

Presents analytical study/research findings to senior leadership team(SLT) when required.

Provides expertise on statistical and mathematical concepts used by the broader analytics team, to inspire the adoption of business intelligence, advanced analytics, and data science across the entire enterprise.

Respond to queries from senior leadership accurately and in a timely manner.

Tests new statistical analysis methods, software and data sources for continual improvement of quantitative solutions. Shares knowledge within Data and Analytics Department.

Works closely with other departments' subject matter experts to acquire data and information related to respective data source.
