CATALOG, a Boston-based pioneering startup, is making significant strides in the field of data storage and computation by harnessing the power of DNA. DNA, known for its millennia-long stability, unrivaled information density, and cost-effective replicability, offers revolutionary potential for latency-tolerant high-density data storage and massively parallel computation. We're seeking a motivated Signal Processing Engineer with an interest in synthetic biology to join our interdisciplinary team and contribute to the development of CATALOG's DNA-based data storage and computation platform.

In this role, you will:

● Build custom software tools to assess the impact of new features on DNA read metrics

● Lead research and development activities for developing signal processing pipelines tofy nanopore signal

● Support the translation of new technology from bench protocol to a fully automated solution at scale with cloud-based software tools

● Collaborate with hardware and software teams to implement new software tools to assess the end-to-end platform performance

● Analyze data, present findings, and make recommendations to internal and external stakeholders

● Continuously assess current literature for innovation opportunities

● Publish peer-reviewed articles and file patents on the team’s achievements and ideas

We are looking for someone with experience in the following areas:

● Deep understanding of data structures, and algorithms with experience adapting/implementing them for unconventional platforms

● Programming with Python and C/C++, in a Linux environment, and with relevant tools

● Application domain experience in scientific computing, signal processing, or machine learning is a plus

● Understanding of molecular biology with an emphasis on nucleic acid chemistry

● Experience with and understanding of NGS platforms and software

● Experience with long-read, solid-state, and/or protein sequencing is preferred

● Familiarity with lab automation, though not required, is a plus

We are looking for someone with:

● A Ph.D. in computer science, applied mathematics, or a related field with at least 2 years of industry experience

● Breadth of experience in and ability to develop depth in data structures and algorithms
