ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

An employee in this classification is required to perform some or all of the following duties, however these do not include all of the tasks which the employee may be expected to perform: provide support services to Administration and Operations; extensive knowledge of CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10, extensive experience with billing, knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing, knowledge of medical documentation requirements for mental health, experience working with medical records, excellent organizational skills, compliance with pertinent rules and regulations as they pertain to area of responsibility; other related tasks as assigned; comply with Alcohol & Drug Testing Policy (06-001-0010) and Background Check Policy (06-001-0015), as well as supervisors/designee directives; maintain confidentiality.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position. This position receives supervision from the Finance Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical Skills

Education:

- High School Diploma or GED (general educational development certificate)

Licensure:

- Valid Michigan Driver’s license

- Certification as a Certified Professional Biller (CPB) is required

Experience/Skills:

- Demonstration of ability to use Word, Excel and Access software programs

- At least 3 years experience with reimbursement, billing requirements and insurance contracts

-Experience with electronic health records, specifically billing claims, general coding and medical documentation

Other:

- Must have access to transportation

- Must be willing to attend out of county activities/meetings

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical Skills

Education:

- Associate’s degree or relevant schooling

- Medical Billing program participation

Licensure:

- Certified Physician Practice Manager

- Certified Professional Coder

Experience/Skills:

- Proficient in Agency operating systems and application software

- Experience in the Public Mental Health Field or Related Field

- Knowledge of Community Mental Health Treatment Programs and Relevant Policies

- Lived experience with behavioral health issues

While performing the duties of this job, the employee would expect the majority of time requires considerable effort, either mental or physical: e.g., constant standing or walking with regular lifting or periods of concentration; continuous concentration on detailed reports, calculations, etc. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
