Under the general supervision of the Chief of Police, the Confidential Secretary provides administrative support to the Chief of Police and the Deputy Chief of Police.

The Confidential Secretary performs complex administrative, technical, and clerical duties, and exercises initiative and tact in addressing members of the community and representatives from other law enforcement agencies.

Working with sensitive and confidential information, the Confidential Secretary maintains the strictest discretion and practices sound judgement.

General Responsibilities: Composing and typing letters, forms, correspondences, and reports.

Processing invoices to generate payment.

Maintaining calendars of the Police Chief and Deputy Chief and schedules meetings.

Distributing Personnel Orders.

Ordering and maintaining office supplies.

Answering inquiries and resolving complaints.

Placing calls for the Police Chief and Deputy Chief as required.

Additional duties as assigned.

Ability to anticipate and resolve routine problems and apply established departmental policies.

Possess accurate data entry skills; strong attention to detail; ability to understand and follow detailed instruction.

Proficient with Microsoft Office and productivity software Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma (Associates Degree preferred) Five (5) or more years of experience in public service or in private sector involving the keeping of legal records or equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the desired abilities, knowledge, and skills.

Prerequisite: Due to the sensitive nature of this position, the employee accepting an offer of employment must first sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which clearly outlines the completely confidential nature of being the Confidential Secretary to the Chief of Police and includes a written acknowledgment that any breach in that confidentiality will lead to a termination from employment.

Must be able to pass a background check.
