Senior Graphic Designer

Location: Reno (Hybrid – in office 3 days per week)

Cascade Designs is looking to hire a Senior Graphic Designer – Packaging and Print to lead and execute our creative strategy for packaging projects and other print-based media, while serving as brand steward for our category leading house of outdoor brands.

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Director, the ideal candidate will have a passion for graphic design and 3D packaging, with a strong track record of working on packaging design projects. They will understand the complexity of packaging and print systems and know how to set and maintain the visual standard across multiple brands and product categories in different channels and geographic regions. It is a fast paced and highly collaborative role so effective communication and organizational skills are essential.

Essential Job Functions

Develop packaging creative direction in collaboration with marketing, product and supply chain teams and vendors.

Oversee packaging development from concept to final mechanicals.

Optimize packaging solutions which lead to higher functioning and performing deliverable.

Have an understanding of product packaging die lines and ability to output files to printer specifications.

Review and approve print production samples and clearly communicate changes to ensure timely completion of each project.

Verify packaging functionality and the accuracy of materials, inks, adhesives, and coatings.

Consumer facing print pieces for regional and global audiences.

Creation of Sell-in materials – sell sheets, workbook, large format trade show graphics and planograms, dealer merchandising.

Create technical illustrations that match existing styles for use in diagrams and instructions.

Streamline processes to increase productivity and quality of execution.

Uphold and ensure brand guidelines are followed across packaging and all print collateral.

Develop and strengthen brand assets, including style and usage guides for multiple brands and product categories.

Collaborates with Product and Marketing for future color trend work.

Collaboration with International teams for regional creative assets.

Provide support to creative team members across channels as necessary.

Other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Experience

BA in Graphic Design or equivalent experience.

4+ years of experience in packaging design and development, graphic design and print production. Industrial design experience would be advantageous but not required.

Highly proficient in Adobe Design Suite, with an emphasis in Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.

Experience and working knowledge of the packaging development process as it relates to production art files.

Has strong mechanical knowledge of 3D forms and print materials.

Pre-press and print production experience.

Strong color sense – ability to work in various color fields including CMYK, Pantone color systems, DuoTone, and RGB.

Strong production, organizational and time management skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Exceptional attention to detail.

Travel requirements: 15% of the time.

Signatory Authority

Signatory authority on creative projects.

Does not have contract signing authority.

Location/Physical requirements

The role is open to hybrid working at our Reno headquarters.

Must be able to travel 5-10% of the year to our Seattle office.
