Powder Coater

Powder Coater Responsibilities:

Prepare workpieces by cleaning and pre-treating surfaces, such as chemical washing, or etching, to ensure proper adhesion of the powder coating.

Select the appropriate powder coating material and color based on customer specifications and job requirements.

Set up and operate powder coating equipment, such as spray guns, coating booths, and curing ovens, to apply the powder coating evenly and consistently.

Ensure that the powder coating application meets quality standards and requirements, such as thickness, coverage, and uniformity.

Troubleshoot and make adjustments to the powder coating equipment as needed to maintain consistent performance.

Inspect finished workpieces for quality defects, such as runs, sags, or uneven coating, and make necessary touch-ups or rework when required.

Ensure adherence to safety procedures and guidelines for handling and storing powder coating materials, as well as operating equipment safely.

Maintain a clean and organized work area, including equipment and tools, to ensure efficiency and a safe working environment.

Keep records of production activities, such as material usage, coating specifications, and job details.

Willingness to perform tasks outside of job description when needed.

Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Proven experience as a powder coater or in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.

Strong knowledge of various powder coating techniques, equipment, and materials.

Ability to interpret and follow job specifications, including customer requirements and material data sheets.

Attention to detail and ability to identify quality defects and make necessary adjustments.

Basic understanding of color matching and blending.

Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Strong safety awareness and knowledge of handling hazardous materials.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team and meet production deadlines.

Qualifications:

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Previous powder coating or painting experience preferred.

Forklift operation experience is a plus.

Possess strong attention to detail.

Knowledge of GEMA powder coating equipment is preferred.
