Currently looking for licensed Tankermen in the following areas:

Baton Rouge / Covington / New Orleans

Lake Charles / Beaumont

Houston

Under U.S. Coast Guard regulations, the Tankerman serves as the person-in-charge of the vessel for cargo transfer operations involving tank barges. Transfers involve all types of liquids including oils and refined products, chemicals, and liquified gases. Tankermen are fully responsible for the transfer include vessel mooring, pre- transfer inspection, opening and closing valves to safely move the cargo on or off the barge, completing required paperwork, and communicating with dock facility personnel. Tankerman work on 24-hour call and without direct supervision.

Applicants must hold a tankerman's document issued by the Coast Guard, and be able to demonstrate solid experience, integrity, a strong work ethic, a commitment to excellence, and the ability to sustain incident-free operations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation

Serves as the Person-In-Charge of the vessel, ensuring the safe transfer of products to and from vessels per USCG regulations and company / customer guidelines

Travel to job locations within the time determined upon being dispatched

Transport, wear and use all required equipment necessary for safe job completion

Conduct pre-transfer risk assessments and develop cargo transfer plans

Conduct barge inspections to ensure barge equipment is in satisfactory condition to conduct cargo transfer operations including barge documents are current and on board

Communicates with Marine Logistics Coordinator and reports any irregularities, discrepancies, or unsafe conditions with the vessel, barge and/or facility which could adversely affect the cargo transfer operation

Demonstrate the commitment to utilize Stop Work Authority if there is any uncertainty about whether it is safe to proceed

Regularly evaluate and modify cargo flow as needed throughout the transfer

Regularly inspect and adjust barge mooring lines throughout the cargo transfer to allow for changes in equipment draft or condition

Disconnect and secures the barge valves and openings to prepare barge for departure

Requirements

Must hold current and valid:

U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC)

Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)

Driver's License

Reliable transportation, automotive insurance, and telephone

Ability to work on-call including days, nights, weekends, and holidays

One year of tankerman experience or more preferred
