Job Description:Maryland Environmental Service (MES) has an opening for a Senior GIS Specialist within our Technical and Environmental Services Group. The candidate would report to Maryland State Highway Administration in Baltimore, MD, working with a team of other MES employees. This position will manage various tasks with numerous MES State partner Agencies and will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team that fosters innovative solutions using GIS-based technologies. The ideal candidate will be familiar with ESRI’s Roads and Highways tool, as well as asset management related to transportation networks, and Linear Referencing Systems (LRS). This position communicates with State, County, and Municipal agencies to gather data and respond to questions, as well as develops and gives professional presentations to staff, state agencies, local governments, and other stakeholder groups. The selected candidate may also assist with field data collection (overnight travel is a possibility), populating databases, maintaining geodatabases, testing new applications, and performing analysis using ESRI’s Desktop ArcGIS and ModelBuilder. The selected candidate may also manage junior-level staff (and their associated workloads), to support the mission of MES and their partners.

Estimated Pay Range:

$50,601.10 - $65,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Geography, GIS Technology, Environmental Science, Computer Science or a related field with minimum of 9 credit hours in courses specifically related to GIS operation/management plus three years of related experience. An applicable advanced education degree may be substituted for up to two years of required experience. Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points.

The selected candidate should have knowledge of:

· Esri ArcGIS 10.8 (or higher) and/or ArcGIS Pro

· Esri ArcGIS Enterprise/ArcGIS Online/Portal for ArcGIS

· Esri Model Builder

· Python

· Relational Database (SQL, PostgreSQL)

Preferred skills include:

· Knowledge of Enterprise GIS architecture, including the software, hardware, network, security, cloud, and web services.

· Experience with ESRI Roads and Highways tools

· Current GIS industry trends (field data collection, GPS technology, etc.)

· Microsoft Office 365 Suite of applications (Teams, Sharepoint)
