Direct Support Professional (Male Staff) (Partime) (8 am-12 pm) (Mon-Fri)

As a Direct Support Staff Professional, you will be responsible for providing direct care, supervision, training, and other services that are individually planned and coordinated for a person with intellectual disabilities in a community-based residential home.

Essential Functions.

Provide direct care and supervision to assist individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving and maintaining the highest level of independence in such areas as personal care, household management, cooking, laundry, shopping money management, opportunities for community participation, and other services as required.

Maintain individual’s log of daily activities, assist with the cleanliness of the house, and observe individuals at all times to ensure their health and safety.

Provide assistance to the Program Coordinator in developing goals and objectives for each individual.

Understand and apply state and federal regulations with regard to individuals’ records and correspondence.

Contribute actively as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Maintain ongoing contact with the Program Manager to update them on the individual’s progress.

Direct Support Professional shall complete appropriate documentation of each individual on time and accurately, implement behavior change programs, and incident reports and administer medications in accordance with the Maryland Board of Nursing policies and guidelines.

Care for the emotional and physical needs of the participants according to their level of independence through positive interactions.

Assist with personal hygiene and maintain the cleanliness of the home and physical environment.

Protect the privacy of participants' information by appropriately limiting disclosures of protected information to those who are directly responsible for supporting the participants. Store, handle, and share protected information in accordance with Heart of Gold's policies and HIPAA regulations.

Assist the participants in maintaining healthy relationships with family and friends.

Facilitates and actively participates in participants' attendance in recreational, leisure, and social activities.

Assist participants during medical appointments and ancillary services.

Supporting participants in developing independence in household routines, money management, and the use of community services.

Transports individuals to and from scheduled activities.

Education

Must have a high school diploma or GED, and experience and/or training in a related field.

Certificate of training approved by the Developmental Disabilities Administration

Experience in Behavior/ home care/direct care/residential care or similar setting.

Must be able to pass with a clean criminal background check.

Must possess a Valid Driver’s License.

Complete the required DDA training prior to service delivery

Be current in first CPR and first Aid.

Complete necessary pre/in-service training based on the Person-Centered Plan.Company Description
