Position Summary:

The incumbent will serve as the technical system owner for all automation systems on the Toronto site. This position is responsible to lead as the system administration subject matter expert and manage configuration, system architecture, backup and disaster recovery procedures, day to day maintenance, as well as interfacing with relevant stakeholders include ITS, Integrated Manufacturing Systems (IMS), and end users.

The incumbent is also responsible for establishing the relevant automation system architecture in accordance with industry and Sanofi digital standards for both capital projects (i.e. B100, B200, FFIP) and site operations (i.e. existing infrastructure). The incumbent is accountable for acting and involved in producing designs and then implementing the designs (commissioning and qualification post installation) according to SPL best practices.

The incumbent needs to be able to demonstrate and communicate good technical understanding of the automation systems and defend technical design decisions. The incumbent will dictate system infrastructure and define testing strategies to ensure automation deliverables and timelines are met. System infrastructure elements include: Unique user access management and work groups, backup and restore procedures, troubleshooting capabilities with ITS, software and hardware obsolescence, day to day preventive maintenance tasks, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical system owner for the automation systems on the Toronto site including:

process control systems (PCS) building management systems (BMS) ignition Facility Monitoring System (iFMS) Central Alarm Management System Emerson DeltaV Rockwell and Siemens PLCs & HMIs Factory Talk Asset Center Inductive Automation Ignition Siemens Desigo CC OSI PI Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and Domain Systems HyperV Virtualization

Core responsibilities include:

User account management - Defining site strategy for User Access Management and working with QOVS Data Integrity team to ensure compliance.

Patch and application update management - Defining and owning the Site Patch Management Strategy (3yr, 5yr, and 10yr plan) as a roadmap for all the associated projects in conjunction with ITS.

System performance monitoring - Supporting all investigations on deficiencies observed and input into overall Patch Management Strategy and identifying risks to the business.

System troubleshooting and resolution - Alignment with Global initiatives to ensure we follow global standards. This includes participation in all global automation workshops and knowledge transfer.

Management of Physical and Virtual Machines - Owner and execution lead for all system upgrade and migration to Virtual Environment in alignment with site BOI cost reduction as well as global automation initiatives.

Management and Troubleshooting of interfaces to IT domain systems - Serving as the Site Automation CyberX lead

Disaster Recovery (backup and restore) of computerized control systems - Infrastructure lead to ensure all disaster recovery comply with Data Integrity requirement and specialized task force in response to the FDA observation.

Support for small software and system changes following established change management process - Key owner / SME to evaluate infrastructure changes moving forward as part of Automation Change Management as B100 goes to production.

Key initiatives:

Define and Drive 10 year site strategy for Automation Upgrade Roadmap and lead B100 PCS (DeltaV) upgrade to align with B200 and overall site master plan for upgrades Define and Drive Site Patch Management Strategy. Key deliverable is to lead DCOM patch upgrade and technical interface with ITS to ensure all impacted systems (~200) have adequate solution Lead system architecture design for B200 DeltaV (PCS) and drive computerized system validation (CSV) requirements with quality. Key SME Change Accessor going forward for all infrastructure changes to PCS Automation technical SME for all site troubleshooting in the event of data interruption Site Automation CyberX (Cyber Security) representative. This ensures all new infrastructure for B100, B200, FFIP comply with the ever-evolving cybersecurity requirement

Context of the job/Major challenges:

Ability to work in a collaborative shared space (Obeya) in a large and complex project environment where quick critical thinking and decision making is required.

Technical aptitude/understanding across a broad number of subjects including network infrastructure, Supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADA), Computerized system validation (CSV), and shop floor tools in a production environment.

Technical aptitude/understanding of digital system.

Ability to lead, engage and work with a spectrum of roles within the organization. This includes unionized trades, salaried managers, technical services support functions, quality, production and supporting functions.

Key Requirements:

Minimum B.Sc in Electrical, Automation Engineering or Computer Science.

4+ years, direct of experience in system administration aforenoted platforms preferred however training will be provided.

Able to work independently and in collaboration with others.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and analytical skills.

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Desire to work within a team environment.

Strong project management skills including organization, time management, and follow-up.

Working knowledge of PLC’s and automation in DCS platform.

Experience as systems administration with the DeltaV system (biotech company or project).

Must understand the relationship between Good Manufacturing Practices, industry standards and their application to the manufacturing process.

Experience with one of the following platforms: Allen Bradley PLC, BMS System, OSISoft PI historian, Werum PAS X, Instrumentation and control panel hardware as required by the job.

Experience with computer systems validation practices (GAMP).

Experience authoring and reviewing standard operating procedures, on-the-job-trainings, and other controlled documents.
