BI & Data Product Analyst

Job Purpose

The BI and Data Product Analyst will be responsible for extracting, analyzing, and reporting financial data to support decision-making across the organization. This includes gathering requirements, designing reports/dashboards, querying the data warehouse (SQL), and delivering insights.

It further develops and manages core applications enabling smooth operational running of the organisation across all functions. We drive and deliver future roadmaps aligned to the overall strategic direction of the business. Group Technology support services to over 7500 end users across the globe, manage the information security operation and safeguard all our assets. Our core Group Technology functions include Technical Architecture, Network & Voice, IT Security, Service Delivery, Solutions Delivery and Asset Management. Group Technology has a global presence across all regions with over 400 staff.

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

· Work closely with finance teams to understand reporting and analysis needs.

· Design and develop financial reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using data from the Microsoft SQL data warehouse.

· Write complex SQL queries to extract, transform and analyze financial data.

· Ensure data quality and accuracy through validation and testing.

· Cleanse, transform, and prepare financial data for analysis, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.

· Perform financial data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.

· Identify opportunities to improve and automate financial reporting processes.

· Provide ad-hoc analysis and respond to inquiries from finance leadership or other stakeholders.

· Maintain data dictionaries and documentation.

· Participate in the development and maintenance of the Finance data model within the DWH (working collaboratively with data engineers as needed).

· Stay up-to-date on finance/accounting rules and best practices.

Skills & Experience

· Strong SQL skills and experience querying relational databases.

· Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau etc. (Sisense would be an advantage).

· Proficient in Excel for data analysis.

· Understanding of accounting/finance principles and KPIs.

· Ability to translate business requirements into data models/reports.

· Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

· Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor content to different audiences.

· Being comfortable to work in a team and collaborate with other teams.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, analytics, computer science, finance, or related field.

· 3+ years of experience as BI analyst or related role.

· Proven experience with writing complex SQL queries is paramount.

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
