The Opportunity

As part of the America’s team, SANY is looking to recruit a driven, forward-thinking and highly-motivated Product Manager, Milling Machines. With the deep investment and backing of SANY Group, the Americas business expects to grow significantly in the coming years. Critical to this growth is the appointment of a high-quality Product Manager, Milling Machines who can create, enhance, and drive product planning and product marketing. He/she will be responsible for the product lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, to deliver winning products. In the Product Manager role, SANY is looking to recruit a passionate and people-focused leader. The role will require someone to build strong relationships with sales, marketing, and product support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are achieved. Also critical to the role, will be ensuring that the product positioning and marketing efforts support the company’s overall strategy and goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role will work directly with the Senior Director of Product Management to complete the development and successful introduction of two milling machines. This will require:

Define the Product Strategy and Roadmap – define the target market, determine problem(s) trying to address, determine solutions, develop business cases to justify new product development, deliver business cases and product requirements prioritizing features and justification, create value proposition.

Be the product expert

Keep master database of specifications by functional area and determine advantages and disadvantages

Understand why a customer buys a particular brand and model and what it means to SANY product strategy

Complete cost and pricing structure of competitive models and develop SANY strategy for offering and pricing

Build database to support future product request and requirements

Develop business cases and product definitions

Marketing and Sales – expert in our competition and being able to differentiate our products from the competitor. Work with third parties to assess partnership and licensing opportunities. Ability to develop the core positioning and messaging for the product along with sales tools and collateral. Capable of providing press releases along with attending press tours to promote products. Be an ambassador for SANY, representing the organization professionally at networking events and other forums.

Training – product expert who must be able to communicate with customers along with performing demos. Brief and train salesforce at quarterly sales meetings.

Budgeting – estimating cost of time and money to develop, determine cost estimate for producing the product and determine the sales margin (based on average sales price, competition and production cost), costs of promoting the product along with cost of providing the product. Responsible to ensure that pricing meets revenue and profitability goals. Provide monthly revenue forecast updates.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

The Product Manager needs to be an individual with a track-record of product planning, product development and product marketing with the ability to provide specific examples of managing the product throughout the product life cycle, which includes gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision and working closely with engineering to deliver winning products. This individual will need relevant experience in the excavator equipment industry along with working with sales, marketing, and support to ensure revenue and customer goals are achieved along with ensuring the product and marketing efforts support the company’s overall strategy and goals. He/she will bring new vision, energy, and creativity to the organization with a natural ability to engage people at all levels externally and internally.

The ideal candidate will have:

North America milling machine expert with more than 10-year experience in milling machine R&D work for North American market;

Led the team to complete the development of at least 2 popular and successful milling machine in the North American market. Technical product understanding required and sales/marketing or Product Management background strongly desired.

Encourage teamwork along with providing effective written and verbal communication skills. Must provide an example of at least one sample of an effective document delivered in the past.

Be driven to win, goal-directed, adaptable, and agile, people focused and the ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

Have a Root Cause/Countermeasure approach to problem solving (analytical vs. intuitive)

Marketing professional with an Executive presence and emotional maturity who has a strong business acumen with the ability to be flexible to change and pace, must take feedback to alter pace and dosage of change

Process driven, detailed oriented, results driven and self-motivated

Ability to build trust and credibility globally which includes winning approval from various stakeholders

High energy with a sense of urgency who is stress tolerance, resilience and self-confident

EDUCATION

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in business, engineering, marketing or a related discipline. An MBA or an advanced degree is preferred.
