Kelaca is looking for a Sr Engineer II for our client partner in Tucson, AZ. This position is primarily responsible for overseeing the development of structural designs and construction documents as lead engineer on major projects, working with Project Managers to ensure that the project work is completed within budgeted hours and being familiar with the branch office and company goals and providing active support for such goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Oversees the entire project as lead designer from Request for Proposal (RFP) until close of construction administration.

Supervises and trains junior engineering staff.

Maintains effective working relationships with multiple clients.

Serves as Project Manager on occasion and as a designated client contact on major projects.

Handles routine contract administration.

Assists in business development and marketing as needed or requested.

Accountable for entire project assigned to.

Oversees and participates in complete construction document preparation from inception to completion of project. May utilize hand sketching, pdf editing software, CAD software, or BIM software to prepare construction documents. May work in a collaborative environment with technical designers or be responsible for document production themselves.

Performs quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) on work performed by others.

Prepares project proposals with the assistance of the Regional Production Manager or Principal.

Attends meetings at the construction site and/or design office.

Upholds the ethics and values of the company.

Reviews invoices for projects when acting as Project Manager.

Develop new business relationships through referrals and marketing efforts.

SKILLS & EDUCATION:

Must have a valid Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer issued by a State Board of Registration. This registration must be maintained throughout the employee's employment.

Bachelor's degree (BA) in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering field from an accredited four-year college or university and more than six years of professional structural engineering experience.

Possession of a Master's degree (MA) in Civil Engineering or a closely related field may be substituted for one year of professional structural engineering experience.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

Capable of responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Proficiency in writing reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.

Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Capable of applying principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.

Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases.

Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Knowledge of Database software; Design software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software, Computer Aided Drafting Software (AutoCAD in particular), Computer Aided Modeling Software (Revit in particular) and Word Processing software.
