A Day in the Life of:

Hours: After-school Monday-Friday from 10am-6pm; Summer Monday-Friday from 8:30am- 4:30pm. Program hours fluctuate to support school calendars.

As a member of our team, you will support persons with disabilities attending SOAR365 in both center-based and non-center-based programs. You will be responsible for assisting with coordination of staff and participant involvement in day-to-day program activities. Your people skills will come in handy and will help you to maintain fantastic professional relationships with your fellow team members and those that we serve.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Delivers purposeful age-appropriate activities and supports for participants based on program activity calendar

Implements activities, using specified training techniques and positive behavior interventions, related to, but not limited to, developing participant social interaction skills, personal hygiene training, behavior plans, motor skill coordination, and activities etc.

Provides participants with personal ADL care/hygiene support as needed

Provides direct training, supervision, and support to participants during all activities when assigned staff is absent or need additional assistance

Encourages and engages through coaching of staff and positive behavioral participant support the active and/or partial participation of the participants in all daily routines and activities

Accompanies and engages with assigned participants on group activities/outings and provides transportation either in private vehicle or Agency vehicle when required

Knowledgeable of program participant's Individual Service Plans (ISP)

Completes all documentation and note daily corrections for assigned consumers in a timely manner

Assures compliance with Agency policies and procedures related to safety, discrimination/harassment, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the agency's Human Rights plan

Obtains and maintains certifications in CPR/First Aid and TOVA throughout employment

Requirements and Qualifications:

High School / GED graduation required

One year of experience working with persons with disabilities preferred

Awareness of the needs of children and youth with disabilities, with the ability to apply positive behavioral support in meeting their needs

Ability to implement individualized client training plans and supervise individual and group participant activities

Job-related college course work, disability-specific training, or medical training such as CNA license may be combined with related work experience and substituted for the 1 year of preferred experience

Requires programming skills and the ability to supervise participants enrolled in the program and to guide staff.

Awareness of the needs of children and youth with disabilities, with the ability to apply

positive behavioral support in meeting their needs.

Medication Administration certified or will obtain within 60 days of starting date and maintains certification throughout employment
