Role

You will play a crucial role in managing the day-to-day aspects of publishing and licensing terms, ensuring the protection of our copyright content, and fostering positive relationships with external and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Safeguard and enforce the company's creative works through copyright registration and legal action against infringements

Draft, review, and negotiate licensing agreements, distribution contracts, and endorsement deals to protect intellectual property rights

Manage and protect trademarks and branding elements to ensure brand integrity and prevent unauthorized use

Manage and negotiate agreements related to public performance and related licensed to ensure proper compensation and protection for company's creative works

Ensure internal and external parties comply with contractual obligations regarding intellectual property use, royalties, and licensing terms

Monitor annual agreements with channels, instigating renewal discussions and coordinating meetings with the authorities as needed for renewals

Address inquiries from third parties regarding use of our content, and maintain ongoing communication with until finalization of deals

Resolve intellectual property-related disputes through negotiations, settlements, or litigation, as necessary

Conduct intellectual property due diligence to assess legal risks and opportunities

Provide guidance and education to internal teams, artists, and partners on intellectual property laws, rights, and best practices and persuade to obtain the required licenses for content usage

Stay updated on changes in intellectual property laws and industry trends to ensure compliance and competitiveness

Desired Skillset:

LLB from a premier Law College with at least 2 years of relevant experience.

Good understanding and application of Intellectual Property Laws such as the IPR, Copyright Act, the Trademark Act, and rules.

Specific knowledge of Indian laws i.e. Contract Act, Specific Relief Act, Civil Procedure & Criminal Procedure Code, Indian Penal Code, Prevention of Corruption Act, the various social legislation.

Experience in Commercial contracts - Contract drafting, reviewing, rights acquisition, rights syndication, rights sale, rights management, SAAs agreements, Master service agreements, service provider agreements.

Understanding of tech Law - tech, NFT, Litigation, content bundling agreements, DMCA will be an advantage.

Demonstrated experience in contract drafting, good negotiation, and execution skills i.e., ability to draft, negotiate and close transactions independently with minimal supervision

Should have excellent research, analytical skills and should be able to exercise judgement and discretion to opine on compliance/ legal issues effectively.

Exposure to Media & Entertainment laws is a big plus
