We are seeking a Part-Time Medical Assistant (with the option to become Full-Time) to become a part of our team at Coastal Wellness Family Medicine! Medical Assistants in our facility perform a variety of routine administrative and clinical assignments to keep the medical facility running smoothly, ensuring we provide the highest level of care to our patients.

Company Description

We are a small medical office with one full-time provider and a weight loss program managed by a weight loss specialist. We specialize in bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. We offer primary care/family medicine services as well as allergy testing, allergy injections, and take-home sleep studies. We will be launching our aesthetic program this summer, which will include body contouring, cellulite reduction, and skin tightening treatments as well as laser hair removal, treatment of hyperpigmentation, live acne, sun damage, and spider veins. Scope of the Job:

Provides excellent customer service and greets patients entering the practice. A multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice including administrative and clinical procedures under the supervision of a licensed provider.

Primary Responsibilities:

Greet and chaperone patients, always demonstrating kindness and courtesy

Process prescription requests and referrals

Handle administrative duties in a timely manner

Schedules care, treatment, diagnostic tests

Maintain documentation

Additional responsibilities may be required based upon office needs

Additional Responsibilities:

Perform routine clinical tasks to support medical staff including vital signs, specimen collection, injections, procedure setup

Communicate with insurance companies for proper billing procedures

Escort patients to exam rooms and perform intake for visits

Sanitize rooms and equipment regularly to ensure patient and staff safety

Take inventory of supplies, restock lab and exam rooms as needed

Obtain patient's medical history, chief complaint, and current symptoms

Qualifications:

Previous experience in healthcare administration or other related fields

Familiarity with medical billing procedures

Strong organizational skills

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Access to reliable transportation

Commitment to serving patients with dignity, patience, and compassion

Recognition of the needs and concerns of others, and the ability to build relationships with others from different backgrounds

Job Requirements:

Temperament - perform under stress when confronted with critical, or unusual situations. Must be capable of dealing with periodic cyclical workload pressures and levels of responsibility. Required to make independent judgments without supervision. Must be able to make generalizations, evaluations, or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria. Must have the adaptability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Requires the ability to work with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.

Skills - requires excellent decision-making skills and initiative. Must be very detailed oriented. Possess excellent verbal communications skills in the English language. Basic arithmetic skills are necessary for cashiering. Electronic medical records experience required. Ability to prioritize tasks and organize workflow. Skilled in conflict resolution.

Experience - two years clerical/customer service experience preferred, ideally in a healthcare-related industry. One year experience with third-party payors, and computer experience for imputing data and reviewing patient demographic material preferred. Prefer 1-year Medical Assistant experience.

Education Certifications - High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
