Choice Hotels, one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors, has an exciting opportunity as our Senior Director, Loyalty Partnerships. Choice Privileges is the 50MM+ member loyalty program that represents 22 Choice Hotels brands and it’s 7,400+ hotels. The Senior Director, Loyalty Partnerships is responsible for leading the loyalty partnership strategy and partnership growth to enhance the Choice Privileges program and create value for customers, owners and Choice Hotels.

Overseeing a team of 2-4, this person’s responsibilities include developing and executing the company’s loyalty partnership strategy, determining which categories and companies to pursue partnerships with and focusing on business development to build new partnerships that deliver on partnership objectives including driving revenue, enhancing the loyalty value proposition and building customer loyalty. Success in this role will include defining the overall loyalty partnerships strategy, enhancing the programs value proposition through new/expanded partnerships, driving revenue for owners and the company and gaining an advantage over competitors. Direct responsibilities include identifying new loyalty partnerships and seeing them through to execution, cultivating/growing existing partner relationships, reporting and forecasting of partnership metrics, negotiation, tech oversight and contracting. This is a business development focused role and we are looking for candidates with deep experience developing new partnerships, with a focus on loyalty experience. This role will not be responsible for building new marketing and media relationships.

This person will partner closely with the Sr. Director, Loyalty Strategy to develop net new partnerships that deliver on the evolving loyalty strategy in order to drive ancillary revenue from all Choice Hotels and Choice Privileges partnerships.

This person will also partner with the Marketing and Digital teams to design promotions and creative activities that ensure partnerships are represented to meet all objectives.

Effective collaboration with Brand and Owner Operations will also be required to bring new partnerships and partnership enhancements to market.

Your Responsibilities

Develop & Execute Loyalty Partnership Strategy

Develop the loyalty partnerships strategy for Choice Privileges including identifying partnership objectives, determining new partners needed to enhance Choice Privileges value proposition and grow its member base

Identify New Opportunities

Identify net new partnership opportunities to deliver on the loyalty partnership strategy & objectives. This role should be 80% focused on building out Choice Privileges loyalty partner ecosystem, in line with the evolving loyalty strategy. A successful candidate in this role will have a strong focus on new business development, building relationships with new partners and driving execution of those partnerships with speed and efficiency.

Cultivate Existing Partner Relationships

Support the team to maintain existing loyalty partnerships with an eye towards enhancing revenue and customer opportunities, while minimizing costs. Managing existing partner relationships is expected to be 20% of the candidates time or less.

Cross-Functional Leadership

Serve as the point person for all loyalty partnerships and act as a key interface with franchisees and other internal stakeholders to keep them informed of changes while driving program needs.

Team Leadership

Create and cultivate a culture of driving results while innovating. Create opportunities for associate development while driving team to exceed goals.

Your Team

As our Senior Director, Loyalty Partnerships, you will report to the VP, Loyalty Strategy Membership Rewards and oversee a team of 2-4.

Your Experience & Skills

BS degree or equivalent, MBA preferred.

13+ years experience managing loyalty partnerships including business development, negotiations, and execution.

Hotel, airline or travel experience preferred.

Ability to coordinate multiple projects at once within tight timelines.

Demonstrated analytical and project management skills.

Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

Ability to interface well with a wide variety of employees.

Demonstrated problem-solving skills.

Detail oriented, independent thinker.

Proficient in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access and on the Internet.

Ability to travel within and outside the U.S.

Your Work Location

As our Senior Director, Loyalty Partnerships, you will be based in our worldwide corporate headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. Less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we’re located directly across from the Rockville Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels.

Right now, our associates in Rockville, MD are working in our office between three to four days per week and working virtually the remaining days. We provide flexibility and encourage ongoing communication with your leadership to establish expectations about your unique needs.
