JOB SUMMARY:

Oversees and manages all aspects of environmental, safety, compliance, programs, and a partner with the health services department. Management of process and systems include, but not limited to: permitting, programs, trainings, inspections, incident investigations and reports, partnering in workers compensation claims with medical supervisor, and recordkeeping along with documentation control.

Subject expert for all safety related programs.

PSM reports to the EHS Manager and works closely with the utilities manager and director of engineering to ensure compliance.

Ensures the assistant EHS manager is working with company safety programs and activities, along with educating the plant workforce of EHS responsibilities and training, with the EHS coordinators.

Reports safety metrics to executive team weekly and monthly safety metrics.

Manages risk analysis within the workplace which includes evaluation of current safety programs and processes, make necessary changes to improve plant safety culture.

Develop a positive working relationship with operations and other departments to influence the safety culture in a positive way.

Perform various compliance audits.

Knowledge of required permits for the facility.

Participate and provide required information for meetings with insurance brokers.

Manages monthly safety budget

Knowledge of all OSHA regulations.

Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Ability to exercise good judgment and self-control.

4. Formal training in one of the following trades: air conditioning, electrical or other mechanical trade.

5. Good human relation skills demonstrating ability to deal with employees throughout the organization.

6. Mechanical aptitude with a minimum of one year maintenance trade experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

High school diploma required minimum, Associates or higher preferred.

Experience working in a safety department, preferably in a food manufacturing facility for 1-3 years.

Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information while meeting stringent deadlines.

Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

3. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

4. Strong computer skills (MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
