Who you are:

Geotab is seeking a Failure Analyst who will be responsible for testing returned products and analyzing the results to determine the root cause of failure. What you’ll do:

The Failure Analyst is responsible for troubleshooting telematics products to diagnose failures in our products or Manufacturing processes. This individual is responsible for reading and understanding schematics, using specialized tools and equipment to provide detailed root cause analysis reports to enhance the quality of our products. This individual works in collaboration with the Returns, Manufacturing and Engineering teams.\n

How you’ll make an impact:

Complete thorough root cause failure analysis of production and customer returns.

Use specialized tools and equipment to test, analyze and diagnose product failures.

Escalate critical safety concern trends to Engineering and Management.

Drive proactive solutions for any hardware design faults working closely with engineering to improve product quality.

Participate in design and manufacturing initiatives for new / existing products to reduce the risk of failures.

Report monthly trends of failed product / process findings and propose recommendations for improvements.

Create data tools to help prioritize corrective actions.

Utilize statistical tools to interpret data sets and prepare reports that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions based on relevant findings.

Log findings and status of assessments with accuracy and detail into company databases to support trend analysis.

Collaborate effectively with electrical, mechanical, software and data engineering teams.

Collaborate with the Engineering and Production team to develop better tools for streamlining processes for repairs and production.

Manage Service Desk ticket escalations and ensure completion per service level agreement.

What you’ll bring to this role:

2-5 years of experience as a Failure Analyst or a similar role.

Ability to read electronic component schematics and technical drawings.

Experience using a digital multimeter, oscilloscope, and soldering iron.

Extensive experience with testing, troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing electronics.

Understanding of SQL and Google BigQuery.

Working with JIRA, Altium, PLM.

Experience working within a technical or engineering organization/knowledge of the high-technology/telematics industry is an asset.

High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.

A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.

Working well under pressure and responding to fast changing priorities and deadlines.

Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).

Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.

Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology/Technician.
