Maersk Fleet Management & Technology (FM&T) is responsible for all aspects of Ship Management of all the Maersk owned container vessels. Ship Management operations are primarily conducted out of Copenhagen, Singapore, Manila, and Mumbai. An opportunity is now available for a career-minded professional to join us as a Safety & Nautical Superintendent, FM&T in Mumbai.

Key responsibilities

You will be responsible for a range of daily operational tasks as well as be part of strategic tasks.

Provide support to our vessels in areas related personal and asset safety.

Ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective ship management for the vessels under Maersk

Fleet Management &Technology (MFMT) responsibility.

Maintain an overview of Nautical, Safety and Compliance matters for our vessels.

Develop and conduct Safety and compliance initiatives.

Assigned or responsible for reports in Safety Management System attended and addressed timely to ensure continued compliance. Assist in company's SMS content review.

Operation :

Investigation of all personnel safety related incidents, near misses, follow-up, and support on root cause analysis/corrective and preventive actions. Visit vessels if required for special attention, including incident investigation.

Participate in Casualty Management Team meetings when convened.

Liaising with the Flag State, Port State, Class and RO on matters related to safety, nautical, deck operational accidents and compliance including certification.

General :

Ensure that safety and compliance risks are evaluated foremost in all daily operations.

Work to reduce all accidents and ensure that lessons are learned from all accidents, near-misses, and safety observation cards. Ensure that such learnings are shared with all stakeholders for continual improvement.

Ensure that proper business/economic evaluations are made prior to taking decisions so that established budgets are not exceeded.

We are looking for :

The ideal candidate should have shipboard experience as senior deck officer or senior engineer . A keen interest or experience in Regulatory/ Compliance aspects is a prerequisite.

A keen interest or experience in nautical aspects is a prerequisite. Have knowledge of shipboard processes, marine operations and with a good understanding of the challenges and complexities involved. Any training or experience in Risk Management, conducting audits and Incident Investigations will be an advantage.

Possess good understanding of Safety Management Systems principles which should enable you to assist in streamlining and simplifying the Safety Management System and drive Safe behavior.

On a personal level, important attributes for this position are empathy, proactive attitude, and a team player with strong communication skills. You must possess a strong drive and passion towards keeping our people, our assets, and the environment in which they operate, SAFE.
