Manual Machinist Summary:

The Manual Machinist will be responsible for operating manual mills and lathes, reading blueprints, and utilizing calibration tools to ensure precise measurements. A mechanical aptitude is a valuable asset in this role.

Manual Machinist Responsibilities:

Set up and operate manual mills and lathes to fabricate precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.

Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining operations and sequence.

Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Use precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify dimensions and maintain tight tolerances.

Identify and troubleshoot issues with machining processes, tools, or materials and implement corrective actions as needed.

Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other team members to optimize production processes and achieve production goals.

Maintain accurate records of work performed, including production quantities, scrap rates, and machine maintenance logs.

Manual Machinist Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in machining preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of experience operating manual mills and lathes in a manufacturing environment.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.

Strong mathematical skills and ability to perform calculations related to machining processes, including conversions and tolerances.

Experience using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure quality control.

Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues and optimize machining processes.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Familiarity with safety protocols and practices in a manufacturing setting.

Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and machining techniques as needed.
