Job Summary:

The Revenue Accountant is responsible for the completion of many facets of the billing and revenue recognition function. Responsibilities include working with internal partners to proactively complete billing responsibilities, calculation of customer rebates, and revenue recognition schedules. The Revenue Accountant will be involved with complex billing matters to include deferred revenue and unbilled balances. Reports to the Revenue Accounting manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for the following:

Prepares billings for submissions to customers of various types of contracts.

Ensures all billings are recorded in Sage Intacct accurately and in compliance with contract requirements. Firm uses both Intacct Order Entry and the Contracts module.

Sets up billing and revenue schedules for all new Sales Force opportunities and contract modifications.

Ensures department trackers are up to date and accurate.

Calculates monthly customer rebates due to clients.

Resolves complex invoicing issues that arise due to unique billing requirements, project adjustments or system issues and a variety of internal and external customer inquiries concerning billing status.

Ensures the accurate and timely delivery of invoices for approval and helps establish Intacct Customer records so invoices can be submitted through Intacct directly.

Monthly balance sheet reconciliations of Unbilled Revenue and Deferred Revenue. Maintains manual deferred revenue schedules for Canadian business that falls outside the Intacct Contract Module.

Builds and maintains cross-functional relationships

Education and Experience:

B.S. in Accounting or Business Administration, Accounting or Finance or related field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

2 to 4 years’ experience Staff Accountant

Has prepared customer invoices out of Intacct Order Entry and/or Contract module

Has maintained accounting schedules, AR aging by customer, Deferred Revenue Liabilities, Unbilled AR schedules either in Excel or ERP system.

Has participated in month end and year end accounting closing processes

Experience in Excel workbooks with complicated formulas

Accustomed to being responsible for review, coding, and payment on a customer account

Ability to understand and interpret the GL impact on ERP functionality/transactions

Has been a key player in revenue recognition and end to end work stream

Working knowledge of Sage Intacct ERP and Salesforce CRM applications

Detailed oriented with excellent mathematical and analytical skills

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in an office setting, at an individual work station, using telephone and computer

Physical Demands:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the day

Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a printer/copy machine

This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office

The person in this position frequently communicates via telephone
