Performs general patient care to patients under the direction and supervision of an APRN of the Housecalls Department.

Responsibilities:

Demonstrates exceptional verbal and communication skillsto communicate between the provider and patient population.

• Embraces and participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities.

• Collaborates well with providers, administrative, and operations staff to ensure visits with patients are efficient.

• Willing to travel and enter patient homes asthe patient environment and place ofservice within a specific geographical region, as requested.

• Demonstrates competency to address any urgent and or emergent patient needs as directed.

• Demonstrates competency to work autonomously and be productive in such an environment.

• Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by the practice.

• Supports and demonstrates effective and professional communication with patients, family members, and caregivers.

• Assures patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality.

• Documents patient data, treatments, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department specific policies.

• Assiststhe provider by acting as a liaison on behalf of the patient to schedule, provide patient with scheduling information to obtain specialty testing, and/or specialty physician consultations.

• Assists provider with following up on outgoing referrals and orders.

• Followsstandard precautions, always washes hands between patients, before entering and exiting the patient’s home.

• Assists with admission, transfer, and completion of episode of care for patients.

• Takes and recordstemperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rates, food and fluid intake and output as need when in the patient home.

• Obtains data and accurately documents pertinent patientinformation according to Orlando Health specific policies and guidelines.

• Recognizesand communicatesappropriate informationand safety concernsregarding thepatient’s conditiontotheProvider and/or other members of the healthcare team.

• Provides exceptional service and care to all patients, families, customers, and team members.

• Processes incoming and outgoing calls in an independent and professional manner using sound clinical judgment.

• Maintainsreasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and otherfederal, state, and localstandards.

• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies andprocedures.

Other Related Functions

• Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and can assess data appropriate to the age-specific needs of the patients in the program.

• Enthusiastically supports and participates in planned changes.

• Demonstrates awareness of medical/legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.

• Consistently utilizes time and resources effectively and efficiently.

• Attends departmental staff meetings and in-services according to policy.

• Completes all mandatory training.

• Assists business office as needed with reception, scheduling, and completion of episode of care for patients.

Qualifications:

Education/Training

• High school graduate or equivalent.

• Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or 5 years of verifiable applicable work

experience in patient care setting) required.

Licensure/Certification

Must possess a valid driver’s license and has reliable transportation to travel to perform job duties.

Maintains current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification – andMaintains current certification by one of the following agencies:

• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Healthcareer Association (NHA) ((url removed))

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) ((url removed))

• Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) by the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)

• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) ((url removed))

• Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) or Nationally Registered Certified Advanced Medical Assistant

(NRCAMA) by the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) ((url removed))

• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT) ((url removed))

• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) ((url removed)

Experience

Minimum 1 year of healthcare experience in an outpatient setting.
