Overview:

The Underwriting Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the business by performing various administrative tasks and providing assistance throughout the underwriting process. This role requires individuals with strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess a positive attitude and be prepared for career progression within the company.

Responsibilities:

Assist underwriters in evaluating insurance applications and determining risk factors.

Provides assistance as required by the underwriting unit to support renewal and new business activities.

Maintain accurate records and databases related to underwriting activities.

May assist with the computation of rates and premiums.

May review incoming insurance applications for accuracy and completeness.

Follow up on outstanding items and ensure timely completion of tasks.

Creates letters, memos, forms, reports, dictation, certificates of insurance.

May include answering phones, filing, and processing mail.

Assist overall branch process.

Qualifications:

Required:

High school diploma.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office.

Thorough knowledge of office procedures.

Preferred:

Previous experience in insurance or underwriting is a plus.
