Job Description

American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR).is looking for a Staff Accountant.

This is a great time to join the International Finance Services (IFS) team at American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR). A multi-national charity, based in Arlington, VA with affiliates in the UK and Holland, funds cutting-edge research in the fields of nutrition, physical activity and cancer prevention, treatment, and survival.

IFS supports the WCRF network members, including AICR, WKOF (Netherlands) and WCRF-UK. This position will support one of the network member organizations.

Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the processing of daily, weekly and monthly financial information for one or more affiliates. This includes month-end close, cash reports, account reconciliations, cash account maintenance, supporting the A/P function, assist with year-end work, and other tasks as assigned.

Main Duties:

Prepare and input journal entries including monthly closing journal entries

Conduct account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data and identify and correct errors

Produce monthly direct mail reports

Support the A/P function by reviewing weekly A/P vouchers for accuracy

Maintain up to date cash records and prepare monthly cash reports

Assist with the annual audit

Other duties as assigned

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field

Minimum five years of accounting experience

Strong in Excel, specifically in Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP

Analytical skills and ability to exercise good judgement

Excellent verbal and writing skills

Excellent organizational skills

Keen eye for detail

Understanding of US GAAP

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
