Job Description

The Recycling Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the safe maintenance, repair, and/or replacement of plant equipment and systems to ensure maximum production of quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day industrial maintenance department. This position oversees all levels of preventative maintenance in a multi-shift Industrial Maintenance Operation. This position routinely requires moderate to extreme physical exertion and may require prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and working in awkward positions. The hours and physical demand may vary by location.

Responsibilities of Position:

Perform duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.

Ensure proper PPE is utilized by employees and compliance with Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures is adhered to consistently.

Provide assistance, guidance, and training to less experienced maintenance technicians.

Ensure daily work completion and all productivity goals are met or exceeded.

Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA standards.

Perform preventative maintenance and repair duties as assigned.

Perform fabrication and repair on conveyors and component parts, as necessary.

Makes necessary repairs and adjustments to Industrial Balers, Disk Screeners, and other Plant equipment.

Input of data into company maintenance and inventory tracking system.

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.

Maintain an excellent attendance record and an excellent safety and work quality record.

Maintain, create, and utilize daily tracking for record keeping, files, databases and spreadsheets. This includes entering daily tracking sheets, parts, labor data for MRF, tracking PM Compliance, cycle counts, inventory auditing, monthly close reports, invoices, and processing orders.

Complete all paperwork and documentation related to inventory control, PM schedules, Hot Work permits, and ordering of supplies and equipment.

Work directly with parts clerk to monitor the use of inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and initiate reordering when necessary.

Maintain and repair shop equipment.

Assists in scheduling equipment service with internal and external sources.

Other Duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

Experience with PLC systems and motor control panels.

Ability to troubleshoot, repair and replacing control wiring, gearboxes, motors, and integral gear motor drive systems from 1-50 HP, 120 to 480 volts.

Ability to use various types of welders, torches, and plasma cutters for steel fabrication and repairs.

Ability to be trained to operate mobile equipment such as fork trucks, man-lifts, and skid steer loaders.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.

Self-motivated with the ability to perform and/or oversee multiple tasks and processes with limited supervision.

Ability to read and understand electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.

Computer proficiency in Windows applications.

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.

Exposure to residential and commercial waste.

Ability to travel between offices, as required.

Ability to work flexible hours; overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.

Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.

Must be available for 24-hour emergency calls.

Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Valid driver’s license (if applicable).

Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.

Must be able to read and speak the English language.
