Description

Highly skilled employee who provides on-going support for completion of daily production/operation plan by assisting area supervisors. Perform as safety contact and execute safety audits, investigations and resolve safety issues/concerns through collaboration with site's Safety Department.

Support site objective through the performance of a variety of roles to develop broad understanding of processes, procedures, and initiatives (e.g. Fill-in Supervisor, Dispatcher, Equipment Operator, Repair Employee)

Assist in completion of production plans with direction from the area Supervisor; coordinate and plan/implement equipment movement

Participate in a variety of audits (e.g. dump, roads, porta johns, van, safety, environmental, etc.)

Provide feedback to department supervision and training on proper procedures to equipment operators (e.g. equipment operation, safety procedures)

Responsible for movement/transport of reassigned employees to new equipment during the shift, and relocating equipment during shift

May be responsible for the delivery of essential items throughout the shift to employees at their equipment

Responsible for occasional operation of mobile equipment (e.g. drills, shovels, dozers, haul trucks, small mobile equipment, etc.)

Investigate all Health and Safety (H&S) events/tire issues within operational area, coordinate findings with the Health and Safety department, provide summary reports, enter Health and Safety incidents in H&S Management system, and maintain electronic filing system of prior safety incidents

Initiate post-accident testing in coordination with Field Supervisor

Transport employees to medical facility for injuries and illnesses and other situations requiring visits to the medical facilities (e.g. hearing, eye exam)

Perform as Relief or Fill-in Supervisor/Dispatcher when needed

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience

Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

Additional certifications or licensure appropriate to the job may be required

Knowledge of operational area, policies, processes and procedures

Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques

Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects

Skilled in effective communication, both verbally and written

Highly skilled in the operation of heavy mobile equipment (drills, shovels, haul trucks, dozer)

Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions

Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards

Preferred

High School diploma or GED

1-2 years of Dispatch experience

SME/Mentor on multiple pieces of heavy equipment

Leadership skills

Criteria/Conditions

Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English

Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment

Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see

Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the course of the workday

Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $29.00 - $40.50/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process. What We Require
