Job Description

The Materials & Inventory Supervisor facilitates three primary tasks, in addition to several ancillary subfunctions. First, this position ensures that Company inventory is properly and securely stored (physically). Additionally, this role is responsible for ensuring completion of weekly cycle counts as well as conducting a year end physical inventory. This role will facilitate the timely delivery of materials required for production throughout the plant. The Materials & Inventory Supervisor position will be responsible for the day-to-day supervising of the Receiving and Material Handling team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include but are not limited to)

· Oversee receiving of materials and inbound material activities; monitor reports and communicate with staff to ensure sufficient materials are available to production and ensure inbound raw materials. Understand fundamentals of scheduling system and use reports to manage processes that affect production.

· Ensure cycle counts and inventory accuracy is up to date and reflected in automated systems (WMS/QAD); insist staff is accountable to accuracy and resolve discrepancies; evaluate and report significant inventory variance, identify root cause and corrective action for inventory discrepancies.

· Manage warehouse to ensure utilization of space and material flow is efficient for the facility; manage and monitor maintenance of storage and holding areas to ensure product is secure and properly identified; manage and maintain accurate location listings and communicate to staff.

· Accurately record new inventory items in pertinent company software system(s) and ensure distributed/used items are properly accounted for.

· Work with the Purchasing Department as needed to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained.

· Physically deliver or coordinate the delivery of required raw materials to various production areas.

· Conduct weekly inventory counts and year end physical inventory.

· Work with Management to plan for the introduction of new inventory items and the respective storage/space requirements, lead times, and other demands created by such introductions.

· Recommend process improvements for inventory maintenance as requested/needed.

· Supervise employees in essential functions and ensure departmental compliance of all company policies/ procedures and customer mandates.

· Prioritize duties for Inventory Coordinators (inventory team).

· Close Inventory jobs and return items to inventory.

· Responsible for all system transactions for inventory movement.

· MSDS safety product and container label control.

· Other duties as assigned by Manager/Company Management.

REQUIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES (include but are not limited to)

· Proficiency with computers and MS Office Suite including Excel.

· Excellent, professional communication skills, both written and oral.

· Detailed, with excellent time management and organizational skills.

· Basic math skills and the ability to read a tape measure.

· Critical thinking/problem solving skills and the ability to work with others to ensure adherence to company policies/procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (include but are not limited to)

· The ability to safely lift heavy and/or cumbersome objects weighing 50+ lbs.

· Bending/stooping, walking, climbing stairs and ladders to store inventory.

· The ability to safely operate a forklift (certification provided as needed)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· High school diploma or equivalent

· 2+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in the manufacturing field

· 3-5 years supervisory experience of employees

· Demonstrated successful experience working both autonomously and with others in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong attention to detail.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· 2+ years of experience in an Inventory/Materials Coordinator role, preferably within the millwork and/or graphic print production industries

· Experience working with Tradesoft cost accounting software.

· Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related discipline

WORK ENVIRONMENT

· Some mild exposure to saw dust created in product fabrication

· Exposure to the sounds of a variety of shop machinery (saws, etc.)
