The Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences department of the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy is composed of faculty members with expertise in pharmacology, toxicology, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, and pharmaceutical chemistry. Faculty regularly contribute to the scientific body comprising the field of pharmacy.
Job Description
Incumbent will work with faculty lab coordinators to assist in the operation of the Pharmaceutics Clinical Chemistry Lab and Advanced Compounding Labs.
Job Location/ Hours Required
The candidate will perform most/all job duties in the Pharmacy Skills Labs in Congdon Hall. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the maximum total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires up to 10 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
Meeting with faculty (Dr. Brad Clark) every week for one hour for planning and execution of lab activities
Report each week with the activities or duties performed via email
Making and Editing Compounding Sterile and Non-sterile Videos for Lab instruction during Summer, Fall and Spring
Editing Lab Manuals for Fall and Spring labs
Set up all lab equipment, divide chemicals, set up printers and labels for running lab sessions every week during the Fall and Spring Semesters
Check the equipment for periodical maintenance
Plan resources, equipment, and supplies for running specific labs
Preparation and/or review of lab documentation
Set up lab for make-up labs and additional sessions
Assist with grading products and sterile check offs
Maintain organization of inventory in stock room, and perform inventory control and identifying items to order
Effective communication with faculty is needed for this position
Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate science degree (BS, BA) that included wet labs in chemistry and/or biology, OR P2 or P3 pharmacy student with or without previous undergraduate degree.
Desired Skills:
Must have a minimum overall GPA 0f 3.0
Pharmacy student (P2 or P3) preferred
Strong understanding of chemistry and/or biology laboratory activities.
