Overview

***This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP***

The Refrigeration Mechanic, Sr performs all activities related to installation, preventive maintenance and repair of refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilating equipment, auxiliary equipment and their controls.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

+ Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

+ Completes assigned work orders within the time limits outlined in the (PWS) Performance Work Statement

+ Performs maintenance, installs new equipment and performs repairs on refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilating equipment, auxiliary equipment and their controls.

+ Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

+ Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required.

+ High School Graduate or equivalent

+ Successful completion of a vocational certificate or Technical College degree in HVAC/R (Preferred but not required)

+ Journeymen level HVAC license (Preferred but not required)

+ EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required

+ At Least 4 years’ experience in commercial HVAC work

+ Experience in an Industrial maintenance position in addition to commercial HVAC experience is a plus

+ At least 2 years’ experience troubleshooting BMS/BAS systems. Metasys experience strongly preferred

+ Valid Drivers license required in order to obtain installation driver’s license

+ Skills:

+ Knowledgeable of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout.

+ Ability to troubleshoot refrigeration and air conditioning systems both electrically and mechanically

+ Specific knowledge of the following:

+ Repair and maintain walk-in freezers and coolers

+ Repair and maintain reach-in freezers and coolers

+ Repair and maintain refrigerated serving lines

+ Repair and maintain ice machines

+ Must have the ability to document and report inspection findings using pictures on required forms.

+ Must be detail-oriented, have excellent time management skills, and have exceptional customer service skills.

+ Must have expert knowledge of equipment operations as it is critical to providing a quality inspection program.

+ Must be capable of giving and receiving instructions.

+ Must be capable of working independently with little-or-no guidance.

+ Must be willing to adapt to rapidly changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

+ Working Conditions:

+ Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

+ Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).

+ Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

+ The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods ofmore than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.

+ The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.

+ The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.

+ The worker is subject to vibration. Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.

+ Physical Requirements:

+ Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

+ Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.

+ Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

+ Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
