Job Summary:

MAPMG is seeking to hire a Research Program Manager to support the American College of Surgeons (ACS) National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) and Commission on Cancer (CoC) program. This position is responsible for leading, facilitating, and administratively supporting the activities, goals, and initiatives of the NSQIP and CoC programs. Provides key support and program management functions to stakeholders. Participates as a team member in a wide range of quality improvement/patient safety activities; ensures the provision of administrative support, program planning and improvement needs of NSQIP and CoC programs. This role will assist with the identification, development and maintenance of program metrics related to the standards set by internal leaders and ACoS.

This position requires familiarity in surgery and oncology practices and procedures, analytical skills; demonstrable experience in documenting business processes and requirements, regulatory environment, work planning, and understanding of program lifecycle management. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement with the expectation to come into the office one day per week. This position will be based in Rockville, MD. Applicants must be local or willing to relocate to the Washington D.C., Maryland, or Virginia area.

Responsibilities:

Communicate with all programs’ participants, and internal and external stakeholders in an effective and collaborative manner

Resource in identifying and developing study populations and collecting, recording and compiling data for research studies and manuscript preparation

Assists in development of outcomes & process measures, including technical specifications, to enable population measurement, guideline implementation, & evaluation

Expert in the development of registries/databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and protection

Participate in recruiting, performance management of staff and manage mentoring/training as needed

Demonstrated effectiveness in working in a multi-disciplinary team setting, collaborating, and customer satisfaction

Utilize strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills to implement and execute multiple successful tasks at one time

Facilitate status meetings and create timely, accurate program status reports to all stakeholders

Uses collaborative problem-solving skills to resolve stakeholders concerns/needs and drives adherence to agreed-upon timelines, metrics, and action items

Ability to work independently to ensure accreditation surveys readiness and scope

Showcases aptitude in learning new technologies in electronic health records, web-based applications and software applications

Leads in the preparation and review of information for multiple programs/studies to the Institution Review Board (IRB)

Manages continuing review process with research team and any needed reports to the IRB

Coordinates the monitoring of IRB documentation which includes but is not limited to informed consents

Travel may be required at certain times

Qualifications:

MHA/MPH preferable; consideration will be given to an appropriate combination of training and experience

Bachelor’s Degree in public health, hospital/healthcare administration or a related degree required

Ability to interact effectively with a variety of people at a variety of levels including physicians and physician leaders

Excellent decision-making and leadership capabilities

Excellent internal/external communication skills

Advanced organizational and time management skills

Ability to manage multiple programs and competing priorities

Ability to work independently as well as leading program teams

Comfortable with adapting to rapidly changing circumstances

Reacts to program adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently

Experience with PC based applications and clinical information systems

Advanced knowledge of MS Office

Has excellent verbal and written communication skills

Adept at conducting research into program-related issues and products.

Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
