Position: Litigation Attorney

Location: San Diego, CA, USA (Virtual)

no relo, candidate must already reside in California

Purpose:

Our client seeks an Associate Attorney to manage litigated matters, focusing on defensive litigation in residential real estate, property title, mortgages, and foreclosure. The ideal candidate must exhibit exceptional written and oral advocacy skills, with comprehensive experience in civil litigation.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Handle all aspects of contested litigation related to mortgage servicing and foreclosure matters.

Manage pre-litigation cases and assist in title clearance for real property.

Provide case analysis and strategic advice to clients.

Draft court pleadings and motions.

Conduct discovery, including deposition-taking and defense.

Be prepared for travel throughout California as required.

Attend hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and court appearances.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

Member of the California State Bar, maintaining necessary licensing and continuing legal education.

At least 5 years of litigation experience. Experience in real estate or mortgage servicing preferred.

Knowledge of foreclosure processes (preferred but not required).

General Competencies:

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office.

Effective project management and prioritization abilities.

Strong organizational skills.

Quick problem-solving skills.

Familiarity with evidence rules and introduction.

Knowledge of consumer protection statutes like the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (preferred).

Ability to manage large caseloads effectively.
